Thor Ragnarok: Will Thor become the King of Asgard?

The third installment of Thor, popularly known as Thor: Ragnarok is generating a lot of buzz and excitement among the Marvel fans as the actors posting behind the scenes stuff on their twitter handles.

Marvel studios have already announced the ensemble cast for the upcoming superhero movie which is packed with heavyweights across the board – it includes big names such as two-time Oscar award winner Cate Blanchett (Queen Elizabeth, Blue Jasmine, Carol etc) as the powerful new villain Hela (leader of Doomeo i.e Asgardian Hell); Jeff Goldblum (Independence Day, Jurassic Park) as the eccentric grandmaster who is an elder of the universe, he possessed the mind-gem until Thanos took it away from him; Tessa Thomson (Creed, Selma) as the classic hero Valkyrie who may play Thor’s love interest as Natalie Portman isn’t returning; Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Star Trek trilogy) as Skurge who is a powerful warrior and Mark Ruffalo (Avengers, Foxcatcher, Spotlight) as Bruce Banner/ Hulk.

A new concept art had been released by Marvel where Hela is standing amongst legions of dead Asgardians bowing before her. Loki is now ruling Asgard under the mask of Odin (who is probably dead, so is probably in Doomeo), he has gained absolute control of Asgard while Thor was busy fighting Ultron on Earth. He needs to fight Loki and forces of Hela to pave the way for the rebirth of Asgardian society. In fact, the movie is inspired by Jack Kirby’s Ragnarok comic wherein Asgard is burned to the ground and rebuilt from the ashes.

So how can Thor defeat the combined forces of Loki and Hela? He will have to make himself worthy of Odin’s powers. Odin force is the grand cosmic power made up of the life-force of Odin’s brothers. When he was fighting the Firelord in a distant galaxy, he was trapped in the realm but his two brothers sacrificed themselves to save him, as a result he absorbed their powers and became one of the most powerful warriors and King of Asgard. When the Thor is ready to be King, this power will be transferred to him.
