GOT S06: Who is the Biggest Winner of Battle of the Bastards?

Finally, after a 3-episode hiatus, D&D delivered the goods to the fans who were clamoring for a big pay-off from the season. Many fans are even calling it as “best episode of the show ever”. The episode 9 OR Battle of the Bastards has historically been the bloodiest and heart-wrenching across the seasons, for instance, the beheading of Lord Eddard Stark in S01, Battle of Blackwater Bay in S02, Red Wedding in S03, Wildlings vs Knights Watch in S04 etc.

BATTLE OF THE BASTARDS

It was pretty fascinating to see the conversation between Sansa Stark and Jon Snow in a room where they were drawing battle plans, preparing to fight next morning as “terms of surrender” were rejected after Ramsay Bolton refused Jon Snow’s offer to fight him in a one-on-one combat. Sansa knew that they are outnumbered and doesn’t stand a chance to win without more troops. She also knows that Ramsay is not someone who fall into the trap, he is the one who lays them for people.

BATTLE OF THE BASTARDS

She wrote a letter to Little-finger which says “You promised to protect me. Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise. Knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride north for Winterfell. Lend us your aid and I shall see to it that you are well rewarded.” He had armies of the Vale stationed at Moat Cailin, a strategic location in the North which controls the flow of armies. He did exactly what she wanted, pulled off a Gandalf on the 11th hour of the battle, tilted the scales in favor of the Starks and helped them retake Winterfell.

BATTLE OF BASTARDS

We know Petyr Baelish doesn’t do anything without accomplishing a long-term goal in his sinister scheme. He has again climbed a ladder amidst chaos and mayhem, he is now the most powerful man in the North with a Battle-tested army whose size is over 45,000, he will most likely ask for Sansa’s hand to become De facto “Warden of the North”. He is always the winner, no matter who is fighting whom. He has sky-high ambitions and drive which makes him nothing short of a major contender for the Iron Throne.

So who won BATTLE OF THE BASTARDS?
