Game of Thrones Season 6 Finale to be Longest Ever

The Game of Thrones season 6 episode 10 titled “The Winds of Winter” is set to make history as it will be 69 minutes long, according to HBO executives. Till now, all the episodes are barely touching 50 minutes (excluding rolling credits and background music). In fact, one of the complaints of GOT fans is that major characters like Tyrion & Varys, Euron Greyjoy, Little Finger, Ramsay etc are getting less screen time and have been deeply missed in the last three episodes. Many of the important storylines and character arcs are either being ignored or rushed through. For instance, Euron Greyjoy was introduced into the show so late in the game, but he was touted to be the influential player in Westeros in the wars to come, but we haven’t heard anything more about his plans. The House Martell is almost a forgotten house and Arya Stark’s character arc is less exciting, to say the least.

The episode 9 titled “Battle of the Bastards” will also have a run-time of 60 minutes, it will feature “the greatest battle ever between two bastards – Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton”. In this episode, we will see the two forces battle it out for the Winterfell. On one side there are Boltons, Umbers, Karstarks, possibly Manderly, on the other side there are Wildlings, House Mormont, Blackfish Tully forces, possibly Knights of the Vale.

The title of the last episode is same as the title of the next “Song of Ice and Fire” book by George R.R Martin. We are very likely to see Trial by Combat which will be called by Cersei and her champion will be Mountain. The question is who will be faith’s champion? There is a strong possibility of Cleganebowl which would mean the Clegane brothers – Gregor and Sandor will go head-to-head in the most epic way possible. Hopefully, Daenerys will unite Slaver’s Bay and begin to march to Westeros to stake her claim to Iron Throne and White Walkers will reach to the wall and perhaps bring it down by the end of the season.
