Lightning McQueen is back all red and shining in Cars 3 , but it’s yet to be seen if it’s with a bang. We know that it’s been 11 years since Lightning McQueen has been racing. With new rookies entering the racing career it would be a tough competition.
The main problem for Lightning McQueen would be the outdated technology compared to the new rookies. Also, McQueen is now at an age of king but not at the age of retirement. He is still young but not at the height of his career which was way back in Cars 2, so before he goes downhill he needs a new trainer to get him back in action, who better than Cruz Ramirez. Yes, a new character has been added to this series. Cruz is a young Hispanic female race car, who apparently would be training McQueen for the big race.
The plot suggests that Cruz would train McQueen right before the big race of Florida 500, this race is equivalent to the Daytona 500 race in real life. “Cruz Ramirez is trying to figure out how this old dog can learn some new tricks,” says Cars 3 director Brian Fee.
Then there is Jackson Storm, who’s said to be the main antagonist of the movie. A new racer and McQueen needs to find a way to beat him.
Fee adds when Jackson Storm beats McQueen. “Jackson Storm is the face of these rookies who have come onto the scene. And McQueen is in a position where his entire racing generation is being pushed out. But it’s too early to be shown the door right now.”
We can expect to see Sally, Mater, and Ramone as well. However, we doubt that much of Radiator Springs would be shown in this movie. As the movie is all set to take place in the United States, hitting historical race sites throughout the country.
“This movie is a love letter to racing and the American way,” says Fee. “We’re inspired by the Americana you see traveling through the South where every small town has a dirt track.”
Some speculations:
We think McQueen would lose one or two races in the movie to Jack Strom. After losing his first race, McQueen would start his training with Cruz and on losing the second race McQueen would undergo vigorous training.
Lizzie might die in this movie. It would be cool to see her statue next to Stanley in Radiator Springs in front of the Court House. Though it’s not clear how Lizzy would die but we speculate – that the movie would either start with Lizzy’s funeral or, she could die while McQueen is still in his final race. Alternately, she dies when McQueen comes to her after the race.
The second theory being, Lizzy dies right before the race starts and McQueen is all sad and depressed. But others would cheer him saying that Lizzy would have wanted him to win the race.
We can expect Sally and McQueen to break up in this movie. They might reconcile in Car 4 but for now, we know they might break up and the main reason for that would be Cruz. We know that McQueen is spending a lot of training time with Cruz and there can be a romantic moment.
Mater, for now, would be taking a back seat as he already took the show in Cars 2, we are guessing he would be there for more of morale support. What’s left to be seen is the racing crew. Would it be McQueen’s old crew or a professional crew?
