3 Most Disappointing Sequels of 2016

In 2016, we have witnessed many blockbusters and quality movies. But some movies failed miserably to match up to our expectations. A lot of sequels were released this year and most of them were truly disappointing. Let us have a look at 3 disappointing sequels of 2016.

Allegiant

Allegiant is directed by Robert Schwentke and was released on March 18. It is the third film in the Divergent Series. The first film Divergent was released in the year 2014 and the sequel Insurgent was released in the year 2015. Divergent was good and delivered some sort of thrills. Except the performances of the lead cast, Insurgent was strictly average. But Allegiant is a total mess up which makes it a horrible watch. It is completely different from its predecessors and you could barely recognize any connection between the first two parts. The final part in the series, Ascendant will hit the screens next year.

Now You See Me 2

Now You See Me 2 is directed by Jon M. Chu and was released on June 10. It is a sequel to the 2013 film Now You See Me directed by Louis Leterrier. Now You See Me received positive reviews and was a huge box-office success. Even though the movie had several illogical scenes, the movie was fast and thrilling. But the sequel lacks both these qualities. This movie also has a lot of illogical scenes followed by its explanations, but none of the explanations were satisfactory. Despite having few flashy big sequences and some fine performances, Now You See Me 2 offers nothing much. To be more precise, the sequel is a wasted opportunity.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is directed by Dev Green and was released on June 3. Its predecessor, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released in the year 2014. The critic reviews were strictly average, but a particular set of the audience loved the movie and became a moderate hit. Ever one expected that the sequel would be a much better one compared to the first part. But the sequel is far worse the first part. The biggest fault in the movie is the direction and it spoiled the entire movie. The only saving factor in the movie is the turtles. But seriously no one would take a risk to waste their money and time for only watching the turtles for about two hours.
