The global entertainment industry is abuzz with more details coming out from the ugly spat between Superstar Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean movies) and Supermodel & actress Amber Heard who tied a knot with him just 15 months ago amidst all fanfare and glitz. They are currently going through divorce proceedings with Amber Heard demanding spousal support in the absence of any prenuptial agreement between the couple.
The entertainment tabloid TMZ reported that she has also filed a domestic violence restraining order against her husband, and guess what judge has granted it to her and ordered Johnny Depp to stay away from his estranged wife. She alleged that he repeatedly assaulted her physically, violently attacked her in their penthouse apartment. The lawyer of Amber Heard submitted bruised picture of her, broken bottles, picture frames and shattered glass on the floor. In her statement, she said “During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me. I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him.” On the other hand, the lawyers of Johnny Depp claimed that “Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.” Johnny Depp has denied issuing any statement to address the specific allegations levelled by his wife.
Another statement by Amber’s friend Raquel Pennington validated Heard’s description of events, she said: “he picked up the magnum size bottle of wine he had been drinking out of, and he started swinging it around, smashing everything he could like a baseball bat”.
It’s yet another case of a failed, broken celebrity marriage which re-affirms the notion that “Beautiful people don’t necessarily make beautiful marriages”.
