Finally, the big reveal of Zoom’s identity was made at the end of the episode – he is apparently another version of Jay Garrick. All the speculation about his identity that he is Eddie Thawne, Henry Allen or Wally West Earth-2 Dopple-ganger is been put to rest for good. Apart from Zoom’s identity, the episode has also confirmed the identity of the mysterious man in an Iron mask who is caged in Zoom’s lair as well as the Jay Garrick who was killed by Zoom. Until and unless show-makers have further plans to introduce twists in the storyline, the plot is taken from Jay Garrick DC Golden age comics. The common element that binds all these characters is Velocity-9 formula.
Let’s finally connect the dots and see the bigger picture of the Flash Season 2:
Jay Garrick (Zoom):
He is a dark version of Jay Garrick with a blue lightning/ speed force. He acquired speed-force as a result of particle accelerator explosion, experimented with sizeable quantities of Velocity-9 drug, got addicted to it which had a negative impact on his mind. He could also be a Cobalt Blue type of character i.e actual physical twin before the explosion of particle accelerator. He is a version of Jay Garrick without a soul, similar to the relationship between Angel-Angelus of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Jay Garrick (Mysterious Man in an Iron mask):
He is also Jay but the Earth-1 version of it. He is the original dopple-ganger of Earth-2 Jay on Earth-1. When Jay Garrick showed Caitlin his dopple-ganger on Earth-1, he was actually Zoom whereas Hunter Zolomon is taken and caged in Zoom’s lair.
Jay Garrick (Flash of Earth-2, Boyfriend of Caitlin Snow on Earth-1):
He is shown to be former Flash with yellow speed-force, the man Caitlin fell in love with on Earth-1, he told her about the massive side-effects of Velocity-6 drug, but Caitlin took it to Velocity 9 levels that could help regenerate damaged cells. In actuality, he may be partly good, but was definitely misleading Team Flash. He is speculated to be a twin brother of Zoom from Earth-2.
