4 Essential Winter Hacks

Winter is the time when we all want to wear our huge comfy sweaters and snuggle up in our warm blankets with a bowl of soup. All of this while we watch our favourite TV series. This paints a pretty comforting picture doesn’t it? Did you know that there are ways to make it even better? Here are some essential winter hacks you must read about.

Iron your sweaters before wearing

Taking a shower in winters is so annoying. You hate going in the cold bathroom, but once the warm spray is on, you detest getting out of it. But of course you have to come out of the shower at some point or else your family members will start banging on the door screaming “don’t waste water.”

So you turn off the shower, pat yourself down, put on your clothes and come out. Now, a helpful tip here is that before you wear your second layer, just iron it and then put it on. It will be warm and toasty and super comfortable. Also, this tip works well with socks too! My feet are always cold in the winter so a quick ironing always helps.

Heat Your Bed

This tip works well for the lazy people (me). Certain people don’t like making the effort of filling up a hot water bottle or buying an electrical blanket, this hack works best for them. If you work on your laptop for a long time, instead of placing in on your lap, place it on your bed and lie down.

This is beneficial in two ways. One, you will be comfortable as you won’t have to hunch over it. Two, the laptop will heat your bed as you do your work. Once you’re finished emailing, browsing, facebook-ing, you switch off your laptop, curl up in your warm bed and doze off.
Razor Lint Remover

In winters, I don’t know how and I don’t know why but there is so much LINT on sweaters. It never goes away. We just look like fuzzy figures, always brushing our sweaters with our hands. Did you know there are ways you can save yourself some time in the morning and remove lint easily?

Relax, you don’t have to buy a fancy lint remover or try using a vacuum cleaner only to regret it. Simply use a razor (buy a cheap one from the market) and slide it gently across the lint, it will scrape right off. Be sure to start from a patch which isn’t visible to all because if you scrape too hard you’ll be starting the “holes in the sweater” trend!

Toilet Seat Cozy

I’m sure many of us know the super uncomfortable feeling of sitting down on an icy cold toilet seat. How I wish it could be heated or at least be lukewarm. Well, most of us do not splurge on special toilet seat heating devices, so how about spending a bit on a toilet seat cozy?

If not even that, you can make one yourself out of old sweater sleeves or socks! After you’ve installed one of these handy warm devices, you’ll be waiting eagerly for nature to call!
