I swear, there are no spoilers in this review of ANT-MAN. I dont’t like to say I am wrong, but I would confess that this time I was. Along with many, I thought Marvel had reached their saturation point after the release of Age of Ultron but Ant-Man has proven that Marvel can still give MARVEL-lous products. The movie is very light, no incoherent plots and you don’t need to see other Marvel movies to watch this one. (though you should, if you haven’t). I promised no-spoilers and I am gonna hold to it. Here are 4 reasons why you should see ANT-MAN or the Common-Man Superhero as I like to call him:
Exceptional Cast
There is no Robert Downey Jr, no Tom Hiddleston and rest of the “star-cast”. There is the old horse Michael Douglas and you can’t get better than that. Paul Rudd, oh boy, he surprised me. I thought he would never fit in as a superhero and a genius was too much for him. Corey Stroll who played Peter Russo in the Netflix show House of Cards also puts up a good show as Darren Cross. But Paul Rudd, exceeds expectations and leaves a mark at the end. Let me put it this way, PAUL RUDD lives ANT-MAN.
Humor
Marvel movies always have a tinge of humor. Well, they ought to have to have it with Downey Jr. in their ranks. But they eventually end up having more drama. This one on the contrary has a lot of “COMIC” moments as opposed to drama. I say it was nice to see a change and this change works with Paul Rudd who plays Scott Lang with distinction.
A Real Good Origin Story
This one is amazing. I always felt nothing could ever replicate X-Men Origins: Wolverine as an origin story, but ANT-MAN lives upto it. It starts of slowly and ends up on a bang. You will have a smile on your face when you walk out of the cinema. Do not take ANT-MAN to be minimalistic, he is the COMMON-MAN or ANT hero, whichever you like better!
Outstanding Grpahics
Marvel is famous for its graphic display and effects. ANT-MAN again proves that they do not joke about the SFX and their Graphics. Ant-Man pushes these effects to the summit.
A lot of questions were being raised on Marvel’s future. ANT-MAN, however meagre he may be but he more than secures it and proves Marvel can deliver a power packed puch, even with an ANT.
