Supergirl Confirmed To Be The Strongest Kryptonian In DC Universe
Did you know that out of all the Kryptonian, Supergirl is actually the strongest Kryptonian in DC universe? Yup, that’s right. A villain reveals in Monkey Prince #12 that Kara has a mythical aspect to her powers that make her far more powerful than her cousin, Superman. Crazy, right? In this issue, Supergirl and Monkey Prince are repairing the damages left by the Lazarus Storms when they’re attacked by an army of skeleton demons.
The demon soldiers recognize that Supergirl has one of the Eight Immortal Powers, and they spirit her away to the lair of the resurrected King Fire Bull and his mysterious associate. The magic villains start to drain Supergirl of her qi, or life force until the hero fights back. She holds them off long enough for Monkey Prince and his allies to defeat King Fire Bull once and for all. The team manages to contain the villain in his prison once more but is ignorant of King Fire Bull’s ally watching them from afar. The unknown villain remarks that Supergirl’s qi was the Immortal Power of Strength and that it was ‘delicious’.
Now, the Eight Immortal Powers is a concept that appeared throughout Monkey Prince. King Fire Bull had sought to acquire eight powers that were intrinsically tied to the life forces of DC’s heroes. Aquaman and Batman’s qi helped King Fire Bull gain the Immortal Powers of Fear and Voice, respectively. King Fire Bull also tried to acquire the Immortal Power of Invulnerability from Superman but had to settle by stealing a weakened version of it from a crew of Bizarro clones. But what’s interesting is that Superman, considered by many as the most powerful hero in the DC Universe, isn’t the possessor of the Immortal Power of Strength, but rather Supergirl.
And it makes sense. Earth-3’s equivalent to Kara was easily able to best Ultraman, a twisted version of Superman. And Kara herself has shown the ability to withstand kryptonite much better than Clark. These feats make a lot more sense if Supergirl’s very spirit is associated with the concept of strength. Each of the Eight Immortal Powers defines the hero they’re pulled from. Batman is a symbol of fear, and Aquaman is known for his commanding voice more than anything. Supergirl’s power of strength makes sense not just because she’s stronger than Superman, but because she has one of the most resilient spirits in the DC Universe.
She survived the loss of her home planet, fought to earn the respect of Earth, and conquered every fear and anxiety she’s ever had. Kara is undoubtedly the strongest Kryptonian in both physical strength and spirit.
