Will X-Men And Fantastic Four Be In Avengers 5? Movie Writer Reveals

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is shaping up to be the next big event film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is being written by Jeff Loveness, who previously worked on Ant-Man 3 and Rick and Morty. Loveness recently spoke to ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis on their Phase Zero podcast and revealed that the answer to will X-Men and Fantastic Four be in Avengers 5. According to Loveness, the answer is no and the Avengers will have their hands full dealing with Kang the Conqueror.

The Kang Dynasty is expected to be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film is set to arrive in theaters on May 2nd, 2025, as part of Marvel’s Phase 6 slate. Avengers: Secret Wars was originally supposed to debut on November 7th, 2025, but was delayed until May 1st, 2026. Kang the Conqueror, who was introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is the only character confirmed to appear in The Kang Dynasty so far. Fans are speculating whether the X-Men and Fantastic Four will help take on the multiversal villain. However, Loveness revealed that those characters probably won’t be appearing in the film. “No, I think all that stuff is pretty far away,”

Loveness said:

“I know they’re making Fantastic Four, but that’s its own thing. I mean, look, I’m the biggest X-Men guy in the world. No, I think that’s being saved for a bit. But, these Avengers are in trouble. They got a lot going on with Kang. They got more than enough to handle.”

The Avengers are expected to face a tough challenge against Kang. However, the film will likely bring back Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Captain America (Anthony Mackie), and Black Panther (Letitia Wright). While the movie will likely go into production next year, casting information has yet to be announced. Marvel Studios recently revealed some of the projects in Phase 5 and Phase 6 at San Diego Comic-Con. One of the biggest reveals from their Phase 6 slate was that there were two new Avengers movies being released in 2025 and 2026, respectively. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars are the two films in question.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which officially kicks off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the most recent Marvel Studios film to hit theaters. The movie follows Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) as they continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors joins the adventure as Kang.

In summary, Avengers 5 is shaping up to be a thrilling adventure for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Jeff Loveness at the helm, the movie promises to deliver an exciting storyline that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. While the X-Men and the Fantastic Four won’t be making an appearance in the film, fans can look forward to seeing some of their favorite Avengers battling it out against Kang the Conqueror. The Kang Dynasty is set to hit theaters on May 2nd, 2025, and promises to be a must-see event for Marvel fans.
