Report: Doctor Strange Becomes A Major Villain In Avengers 5

Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the fifth installment in the Avengers film series, set to hit theatres on May 2, 2025. Rumors and reports surrounding the movie’s plot and cast have been circulating for months, with one of the most recent claims suggesting that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will turn into a major villain in Avengers 5.

According to a report from The Cosmic Circus, unnamed sources close to the production of the movie have revealed that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will divide the Marvel Cinematic Universe into two factions, with Doctor Strange leading one and Kang the Conqueror leading the other. The twist in the story is that Kang is reportedly trying to protect the Multiverse from Doctor Strange, who has gone rogue. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm or deny these claims, so for now, they should be taken with a grain of salt.

If these rumors turn out to be true, it would mark a significant departure from Doctor Strange’s role in previous Marvel movies. In the original 2016 Doctor Strange movie, he was portrayed as a brilliant surgeon who gains mystic powers after a car accident, and he later becomes a member of the Avengers. In Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange played a pivotal role in helping the Avengers defeat Thanos and save the universe. However, if he turns into a villain in The Kang Dynasty, it could signal a major shift in the character’s development.

In a recent interview, Avengers 5 screenwriter Jeff Loveness teased that the movie will have a high death toll, which has left fans speculating about which characters could be in danger. Loveness responded to fans who expected to see a more ruthless version of Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, saying, “I think for these bloodthirsty fans, there’s a little movie called Avengers: Kang Dynasty, I think he’ll bring the heat.” This comment has fueled rumors that The Kang Dynasty will bump off a major Ant-Man character, such as Scott Lang, Hank Pym, or Janet van Dyne.

The potential deaths of beloved characters are just one aspect of the speculation surrounding Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Another popular rumor suggests that Deadpool 3 will set the stage for the upcoming sequel. The third Deadpool movie, which will be the character’s debut in the MCU, is expected to establish the importance of the Multiverse to the overall narrative of the MCU. It is also rumored to position Deadpool as a significant player in the franchise’s future. However, there is no official confirmation yet that Ryan Reynolds will appear in Avengers 5.

Despite the lack of information about the movie’s plot, several MCU veterans have been confirmed to be involved in the project. Jeff Loveness recently confirmed that Florence Pugh, Jonathan Majors, and Letitia Wright are among the cast members, but he also hinted that the actors themselves were a significant draw. “We’ve got such a deep bench of really good actors… I think we’re excited for the actors more than even the characters right now,” Loveness said.

Jonathan Majors has been confirmed to play the role of Kang the Conqueror, a time-traveling villain who is expected to be the movie’s primary antagonist. Majors recently made his debut in the MCU as a different character, He Who Remains, in the Disney+ series Loki. Fans have speculated that his character’s appearance in Loki could be a precursor to his role in The Kang Dynasty. Overall, this movie promises to be a thrilling addition to the MCU, with a cast of beloved characters and the potential for major plot twists.
