It is Offical, Ms. Marvel is the First Mutant in MCU

The finale of Ms. Marvel has dropped a major bomb on MCU fans. Obviously, we were expecting a setup for The Marvels as Kamala Khan is supposed to be one of that film’s leads. So, Captain Marvel had to show up in some capacity. But that’s not the bomb I am talking about. First, Ms. Marvel deviated from the Inhumans and told us that she’s actually a Djinn, or perhaps a human-Djinn hybrid. But now, it has taken a turn in an entirely different direction. As it turns out, Ms. Marvel is officially the First Mutant in MCU.

Well, the first mutant actually showed up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Professor X made his cameo. But that happened on a different Earth. On Earth-616, it is Kamala who has been claimed to be a mutant. This reveal came with a couple of Easter Eggs clubbed together. The first was when Bruno described why only Kamala gained powers in her family, and neither Sana, Muneeba, or Amir had those powers.

But when Bruno said that Kamala’s genes had been altered due to mutation, we heard the X-Men ’97 theme for a brief moment. And for confirmation, it has also been credited in the credits. So there you have it. Kamala Khan is a mutant. And instead of the Inhumans, she’d lead us to the X-Men. Because of this reveal, we should perhaps get a bigger setup for the mutants in The Marvels. But before that film comes out, we may get a few other mutant mentions or cameos now that Ms. Marvel has opened that door wide open.

The fact that this revelation came out right before SDCC also tells us that we should be getting something about the mutants in Hall H this year. What are your thoughts on Ms. Marvel’s mutant reveal? Are you happy that instead of introducing mutants in WandaVision and retconning Wanda into a mutant, Ms. Marvel has been turned into one? Let us know in the comments.
