What if Doctor Strange 2 Features a New Stark Instead of a Tony Stark Variant?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the most talked-about Marvel project as the release date comes closer. There are a lot of theories floating around about the project ever since it was announced. These theories have only increased following the release of the full-length trailer for the movie. With a variety of characters set to appear in the movie, one of the most talked-about is the appearance of Tony Stark. While Robert Downey Jr. might not return for the role, fans have theorized his variant to appear in the movie as Superior Iron Man. A new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness theory suggests that we might get to see someone else from the Stark family appear instead of a Tony Stark Variant that is believed to be the Superior Iron Man.

Multiverse of Madness

The biggest theory surrounding the Doctor Strange sequel has been regarding the appearances in the movie. Based on the first teaser that we got in the post-credits scene for No Way Home, fans expected an appearance from variants of the characters. These variants would be the ones that we had gotten to see in the Disney+ series What If…? along with the appearance of the Defender Stranger. But things reached a whole new level when we saw the latest trailer featuring a variety of characters. The number of variants appearing in the movie also reached a higher number.

But the most awesome bit about the trailer has to be Patrick Stewart’s voice is heard. This has been linked to the chance of the actor reprising his role as Charles Xavier in the movie. The theory was further supported by the idea that the council that summons Strange is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Illuminati. It has been long theorized that we would be getting a chance to see a live-action rendition of the Illuminati in the MCU. Fans have already got the possible candidates for the members of the Illuminati. One name has been attached to appear and that is none other than Iron Man.

Iron Man in Doctor Strange 2

In the past few months, there have been numerous rumors of Tom Cruise appearing as Iron Man. Considering Patrick Stewart has been supposed to play Xavier, fans immediately added that Tom Cruise will appear as a variant of Tony Stark. We already witnessed a version of the with the multiverse bringing variants of Spider-Man together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It wouldn’t be surprising to see another Iron Man appearing in the MCU based on the multiverse. This would only add the variants of Doctor Strange who will be seen appearing in the movie.

Mysterious Figure in Doctor Strange 2 Trailer

Tony Stark Variant

A mysterious figure also appears in the trailer in a suit. This character is then seen heading straight for Scarlet Witch in the halls of the council where Strange was being summoned. Even though it has been linked to the possible character that Tom Cruise will be playing as a variant of Tony Stark. But a new theory suggests that it could be the Armored Avenger. According to this theory, we might get a chance to see Iron Man 2020 joining Strange and Scarlet Witch’s team to help save the multiverse. This could pave the way for introducing a new member of the Stark family who is a blood-relative of Tony.

Iron Man 2020

This character was first introduced as a part of the narrative of Machine Man in 1984. A series of comics from Marvel saw Machine Man’s arc in an alternate future with Iron Man 2020 being introduced as a villain for Machine Man. Arno was actually a blood relative of Tony and he took over Stark industries after the latter’s death. Following this, he would operate as a ruthless mercenary who would end up being used as a villain by Marvel. This character was brought into different timelines and put against some of the other Marvel heroes.

Tony Stark Variant

Based on the mysterious character from the trailer, we can say that he might be wearing a variation of the Superior Iron Man armor. Even though it appears to be much like Captain Marvel the glow could be associated with Superior Iron Man too. Considering some theories suggest that the Illuminati might be the prime antagonist in the movie, it would be fitting to see Arno appear from across the multiverse. This will also continue the long arc of Stark somehow being responsible for some of the major villains in the MCU.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theaters on May 6.
