Why The DCEU Can Be Successful Even Without Batman and Superman

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been all the rage in the movie industry in recent times. For a while, some years ago DC decided to challenge their supremacy with the DCEU. However, ever since the failure of the Justice League they seemed to have faded back into obscurity. Their attempt to establish a foothold in the industry by relying upon Batman and Superman seems to have backfired. So now Warner Bros are trying to breathe new life into their franchise without these two heroes. But what do we mean by this? Well, we think that DCEU can easily shine without Batfleck and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

But why do we say such things? Well, you see if recent reports are to be believed then it becomes abundantly clear that Batfleck is about to be written out of the franchise entirely. With The Flash on the horizon, Michael Keaton’s Batman is slated to make a comeback to the movie scene in the DCEU. Batfleck is also supposed to be in the movie but if rumors are to be believed then this is going to be his final appearance in the franchise. With The Batman rebooting the character and Michael Keaton pegged to take over responsibilities of Batfleck in the main franchise, the character itself will become redundant.

We know this because all further appearances of Batman are credited to either Robert Pattinson or Michael Keaton. Robert is getting his own new sub-franchise and Keaton is the one who is going to appear in the Batgirl movie. It seems that WB is trying to shift batman into a mentorship role like in Batman Beyond rather than having him as an active combatant. This might be a good idea as Batlfeck’s murderbat is overdone.

DCEU Without Batman And Superman

But what about the Man of Steel? Henry Cavill is one of the best cast superheroes in the DCEU and Man of Steel is also one of the better movies of the franchise. He is also very popular with the audience, so it doesn’t make sense for the studio to distance itself from him. But it seems that WB has decided that they will rip out any and all indications of the old world of Zack Synder and his version of the DCEU. To this end, it is prudent to mention here that Henry Cavill has commented that he still has the cape in his closet. But the studio seems determined to not even give his character a send-off.

We know of this because Sasha Calle’s Supergirl is set to replace the character in her upcoming movie and it seems that this character will also be replacing Cavill on the Justice League roster. Admittedly, this is a big task to just accomplish in one film and that is why The Flash is just supposed to be the start of the change. Soon things will become even more chaotic, that is why it seems that the studio is choosing its battles.

They are carefully determining which of the old characters are to be given screentime and which one of them are to be thrown into the deep end of obscurity. The studio is planning to revitalize its franchise by having new faces take the lead in its headlining team of heroes. The failure of the Justice League has tainted the old team and the studio is trying to change the roster completely to make sure that the old sins are forgotten by the audience.

The Future

To this end, even Cyborg has been written out of the franchise and a new pair of ladies have been introduced to take their place. But all is not lost, since heroes like Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and the Shazam! the team is slated to be a part of the next iteration of the Justice League. Plus there is also the possibility of anti-hero Black Adam aiding them from time to time which means that things might be better than naysayers would have you believe.
