Where Has Helen Cho Been Since We Last Saw Her In Age Of Ultron?

Over the years there have been various characters that have been introduced in the MCU. While some were throwaway and made a one-time appearance, others became quite significant later in other movies. Marvel is known for correcting their mistakes and they have always made an attempt at making sure that each of the things we see in the movie is actually defined and clearly explained. One of the former characters has to be that of Helen Cho who appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The character has hardly been mentioned or shown or indicated at any time later in the franchise. Helen Cho’s absence from the MCU makes us wonder where she has been and what she might have been up to since the week of Ultron.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

The second Avengers movie might not be one of the most successful in the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it does introduce a lot of characters into the franchise. We got to see some action from the sibling duo Wanda and Pietro Maximoff who were introduced in the post-credit scene for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Along with them we also saw the creation of Vision who would end up being one of the most significant Avengers. But another character who made an appearance was Helen Cho, played by Claudia Kim who was brought into the Avengers tower. Tony Stark brought her in when Hawkeye is injured during the opening mission.

Claudia Kim’s Helen Cho was a world-renowned geneticist who was the leader of the South Korean scientific research and development company called UGIN. She had a pre-existing relationship with the Avengers due to having worked at Bruce Banner’s lab in the New York HQ. She helped Hawkeye heal his wound by using the Regeneration Cradle.

Her character was quite significant in the movie because she was able to break out of Ultron’s hypnosis due to the help of Wanda this allowed her to stop Ultron from getting a human-like body. But later in the movie, we see her work and medical technological equipment give birth to Vision. The character was last seen working at the new Avengers Facility in upstate New York after she had recovered from her injuries. She joined Erik Selvig’s team as during one of the final montages of the movie we see her touring the labs with Maria Hill. But the character was never seen after that and it’s as if Marvel Studios has actually forgotten about the character.

Helen Cho’s Presence

Taking into consideration the fact that she was one of the most key characters who was responsible for setting up the events of Age of Ultron it is bizarre to think she has not been mentioned again. Cho might have not been on the front but fans would remember that she was also responsible for Tony Stark’s nanotechnology that we saw him use in Avengers: Infinity War. The character deserves the credit for making sure that Iron Man was able to battle Thanos and the various other enemies, as otherwise, he would have died very easily.

Since we saw WandaVision work on some of the otherwise underrated supporting characters in the MCU like Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis, Cho could have been brought back here too. Each of the upcoming shows is bringing some depth to certain characters. We can expect her to make a return in one of these shows and there we might get an insight into her whereabouts during the events of Infinity War and Endgame. She might be working with S.W.O.R.D. and could have been part of one of the projects that oversaw bringing Vision back to life, considering she has expertise in that.

One far more interesting way of bringing her back would be in the upcoming She-Hulk project considering she has worked with Bruce Banner before. She might have worked on healing Smart Hulk’s arm and also separating him from himself in the Smart Hulk. This narrative could actually lead to some chance for Amadeus Cho a.k.a Brawn appearing in the franchise. We surely would love to see Marvel bring back Helen Cho in order to justify her presence in the MCU.
