What If Zombies: The Finale Also Revealed the Fate of Hulk and Zombie Thanos

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to be a titan in the film industry. It has taken the company from financial ruin to being one of the most successful franchises in the modern era. The Avengers and related properties are some of the most valuable and sought-after IPs in the world. The new What If…? Series is the company spreading its wings. They have created something that goes way beyond the comics at this point, but the callbacks, like the What If…? zombies episode are a nice touch. Did you notice that the What If…? finale also shed some light on the fate of Hulk and Zombie Thanos? Well, here’s how it did that.

The finale of What If…? Started off with Captain Carter re-enacting the battle at the start of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This is succeeded by The Watcher coming to get Captain Carter for the multiverse mission. Then we skip from universe to universe until we finally have all the team members necessary to make the Guardians of Multiverse. It is here that the entire plan starts coming to light. They seek to attract the attention of Ultron and then use Gamora’s infinity crusher to atomize the stones.

For this plan to work they needed to snatch the soul stone to power the Infinity Stone Crusher. They do succeed in getting the soul stone and using the crusher but their plan fails for other reasons. The battle with Infinity Ultron is glorious. However, today we want to talk about the What If…? Zombies easter egg in the finale. We think that the showrunners revealed the fate of the Zombie Universe in this episode. Read on to find out exactly what we mean.

The Fate Of Hulk And Zombie Thanos

There is a scene in the What If…? Finale where Strange Supreme uses his powers to create a portal. It seems that the universe where Guardians of the Multiverse fight Ultron is the same universe where the Zombie Virus took over. Remember how Strange remarks that “there is not enough intelligent life here to attract Ultron’s attention”? Well, we think that intelligent life does not include Zombies. However, the cool thing about this is that when the Guardians have to escape Ultron, Strange summons the zombies.

Presumably, this is the horde from outside the hangar where zombie Scarlet Witch was battling The Hulk. We do see Wamda come out of the portal and go toe to toe with Ultron. But Hulk is nowhere to be seen. It is also unclear why Strange chose not to summon Zombie Thanos for the fight against Infinity Ultron. Surely he would have been able to hold off the hot for far longer. We believe we have the answer to both of these burning questions. We think that Hulk does in the battle with Wanda, he wasn’t exactly in the best shape and Wanda’s reality-shaping powers are no joke.

The fate of Hulk and Zombie Thanos

Even the green giant cannot stand up to such magic. As for Zombie Thanos, we assume that he won in Wakanda and was able to acquire all 6 infinity stones in the Zombie reality. After which he would have snapped and eradicated half of all life. Or perhaps made everyone in the universe a Zombie. After this, he would have destroyed the stones like his sacred timeline version. This would mean that Zombie Thanos would have no reason to fight Ultron. A machine can’t even be eaten.

What If…? Zombies Finale

So the only option left to Strange Supreme was summoning a crazed scarlet which to do his dirty work. As powerful as Strange Supreme is, he cannot stand up to the power of all the infinity stones combined with Ultron. Scarlet Witch, however, is a different story. Even in the comics, her power is of cosmic proportions. She has the power to level entire planets and often holds back in fights. This is on full display as her Zombie version rips into Infinity Ultron. The dictator robot has to destroy the entire planet just to defeat her.

Truly a reprehensible machine. It is quite fitting that Ultron is defeated by Armin Zola. A virus eating the suit of armor around our world. Regardless, this was the fate of Hulk and Zombie Thanos. What do you think of our analysis? Let us know in the comments.
