WandaVision: Episode 5 Reveals Shocking Debut

WandaVision Episode 5 Debut:

Marvel’s first-ever Disney+ series, WandaVision, premiered on January 15, 2021, and revolves around the alternate reality of Wanda, where is living with her love interest turned husband, Vision, and has twins. The city she is living in is called Westview. All this seems beautiful, now that she has a family. But it is all fake. None of it is real as Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and was not resurrected. So everything that you see in Westview, is fake. And now, WandaVision finally kicked the doors down to the multiverse and blew everyone’s minds with the debut of X-men: Dark Phoenix star Evan Peters, who reprised his role of Quicksilver in the latest episode of WandaVision.

This shocking appearance has broken down all the preconceived notions of how Marvel Studios were to introduce the X-Men and multiverse. Lending credence to the rumors that have been swirling around Spider-Man 3 bringing back villains from previous iterations of the franchise, with Peters back as Pietro Maximoff, it completely changes the game for the Scarlet Witch’s perfect family in Westview. In episode 5 of WandaVision, Evan Peters made a shocking appearance reprising his role as Quicksilver, effectively kicking down the door to Fox’s X-Men franchise of films and replacing Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s portrayal of the same character from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Peters will likely continue to play a role in WandaVision, though it’s not clear just how this character will factor into the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We have seen many revelations in WandaVision, such as SWORD trying to infiltrate Wanda’s fake reality, and realizing that the entire town of Westview is being held hostage by Wanda. Then, we saw Monica Rambeau mentioning Ultron, and we also saw the severed head of Vision, exactly how it was after Thanos removed the Mind Stone from his head. This is the first major step for Marvel Studios incorporating elements of the X-Men franchise. Where it goes from here is anyone’s guess, but the stars of WandaVision has seemingly been teasing the moment for a long time.

While talking to TVLine about what’s to come on WandaVision, Olsen was asked if there’s a shocking cameo that she’s surprised hasn’t leaked yet, and she said, “Yes.” She, of course, could not provide further details, though she added, “I’m really excited.” Olsen’s teased WandaVision cameo could most likely be the same as the secret actor Bettany has referenced previously. While recently speaking with Lights, Camera, Pod, WandaVision star Paul Bettany took a little bit of time to gush about how amazing the culmination of the series will be and how stunned MCU fans will be about it all. Naturally, Bettany is prohibited from directly giving things away about what’s to come, but he did end up saying a little about a secret actor who Bettany has always wanted to work with:

“I would also say that you know, so many things get leaked and people find out about certain things, but there’s this thing that’s been kept completely under wraps that happens, and I work with this actor that I have always wanted to work with and we have fireworks together and the scenes are great and I think people will be really excited. I’ve always wanted to work with this guy and uh, it’s pretty – the scenes are pretty intense.”

“There’s stuff that I can’t talk to you about, where I get to work with an actor that’s going to be a surprise for everybody,” Bettany said. “I get to work with an actor that I’ve been wanting to work with forever, who is just unbelievable. We have some real fireworks together.” While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer teased the third episode’s major reference to Pietro. “So, my approach with Wanda was to look at the entirety of the woman, right? All of herself and all of her experiences and all of her trauma, and losing Pietro is a big part of that and having been a twin is a big part of that,” said Schaeffer. “As far as the placement of it, that was a lot of the work in the writers’ room, was when do we have these moments? When do we reveal things? When do we delve into authenticity? Because the sitcom stuff, there’s the patina of the happy, false environment and the happy, false self a little bit, so it made sense to me at that moment for her to have some emotional honesty.”

New episodes of WandaVision air every Friday on Disney+. So if you do not have a subscription to Disney+, we highly recommend you to get one.
