Sony is moving forward with their shared universe of Spider-Man related characters. Like the MCU, SPUMC will also be very interconnected with characters from other movies of the universe popping up here and there to set up crossovers and future films. This was proven when Michael Keaton appeared in the Morbius trailer. We have come across plot leaks and rumors which suggest that it won’t be just Adrian Toomes who will appear in Morbius, but we will also see Mac Gargan & Cletus Kasady appear in the film. Kasady’s appearance in Morbius will set up his arc in Venom 2. In the same way, we’ve got a new theory which suggests that Kraven will appear in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. This appearance will be a set up for either Spider-Man 3 or his own solo movie (or both).
Just recently, we got the confirmation that Sony is developing a solo Kraven movie. J.C. Chandor, the director of Netflix’s Triple Frontier has been tapped to direct Sony’s solo Kraven movie. We believe that we will be seeing Kraven’s film in mid-late 2022. Rumors state that this movie is going to be based on Kraven’s Last Hunt. Kraven is not as big of a character as Venom or Spider-Man. He can’t hold his movie as successfully as Venom unless the audience becomes familiar with him. While most people believe that Kraven will be one of the antagonists in Spider-Man 3, we think that he may actually make a cameo in Venom: Let There Be Carnage first.
This cameo could set up two things in particular. It could either set up the solo Kraven movie or Spider-Man 3. Screen Rant‘s theory suggests that Kraven might appear in Venom 2 towards the end of the film. Venom’s battle with Carnage may cause a lot of collateral damage. So, when Kraven appears, he could set his eyes on Venom. He might actually choose Venom as his last big hunt. That way, in the solo Kraven movie, he may go up against Venom (and not Spider-Man).
So far Venom only has symbiote based villains. The first film had Riot, and the second one will have Carnage. Sure Spider-Man could be a non-symbiote antagonist of the future, but so could Kraven. People aren’t really expecting Kraven and Venom to take each other on, and that’s where Sony may surprise us.
But we’ve got the second theory of our own which differs from Screen Rant’s theory. We think that Kraven could either have a physical appearance in Venom 2, or could be referenced through a photo or a headline on a news update. For instance, we could just see a news flash conducted by J. Jonah Jameson. He may give us a headline stating that the government has hired Sergei Kravinoff (Kraven the Hunter) to track down Spider-Man or something like that. And then we’d see Kraven & Spider-Man battle each other in the untitled Spider-Man 3 movie. After that, Kraven would become a member of the Sinister Six. As for his solo movie, our theory is that it could be a prequel to every SPUMC movie. It could take place before the first Venom movie.
The reason why we think that the second theory could come true is because Spider-Man’s events of the MCU are supposed to connect with the events of Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. So, Venom 2 can actually set up the events of Spider-Man 3 by giving Kraven a cameo or even a little news headline as we’ve suggested above. More people will become aware of Kraven if he gets a little intro in Venom 2, and then becomes one of the antagonists in Spider-Man 3. All that will ultimately work well for his solo movie.
The schedule for the next 5 films in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters stands as follows:
– Morbius releases on March 19, 2021.
– Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrives on June 25, 2021
– Untitled Spider-Man 3 releases on December 17, 2021
– Spider-Woman hits theatres sometime in 2022
– Kraven The Hunter also follows it sometime in 2022.
