Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse turned out to be one of the best-animated films of all time. In fact, it was a game-changer for superhero movies. Many fans would happily agree with the fact that it was the best Spider-Man movie ever. It was so good that producer Chris Miller had even pitched a live-action Spider-verse film to Sony with Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland & Andrew Garfield. The top brass of Sony felt that it was “too soon” for that, but they are eager to invest in the 3-D animated Spider-verse. We as fans cannot wait for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, as it won’t just involve Miguel O’Hara as Spider-Man 2099, but it’d also bring in another major Spider-verse character into the picture.
This other Spider-Man character is none other than Cindy Moon, aka Silk. How do we know this? Well, the producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, who are currently working on the story of the film have revealed it via their latest tease on Twitter. First producer Phil Lord asked – “my ears aren’t big enough or stiff enough for my mask-wearing needs. Any suggestions?” This question was answered by Chris Miller with a photo of Silk. Take a look:
Clearly, this was a tease for Silk’s arrival in the Spider-verse sequel. But if you think about it, this tease was a set up for another film. We know that Sony is also developing a female-led multiverse crossover set in the same animated franchise as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. So, Silk would be a perfect character to join Spider-Gwen in that film. We also expect Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman to appear in that film. Considering that there were 6 major characters in the previous Spider-verse film, we reckon that the number of characters in Spider-verse 2 and the female-led Spider-verse film would also be similar.
