Disney Possibly Confirms That The Infinity Stones Cannot Return In The MCU

Infinity Stones Cannot Return In The MCU :

There might be a bit of confusion upon the status of the Infinity Stones. After watching Avengers: Endgame, people believed that the Infinity Stones were destroyed as Thanos did state that he “used the stones to destroy the stones.” But when the question of how the stones will be brought back was asked from the directors, co-director Joe Russo stated that Thanos didn’t exactly destroy the stones, as he himself mentioned that the stones were reduced to Atoms. Well, now Disney seems to have given us a bit of clarity upon the status of the Infinity Stones. Here, look at the following images:

These images that Disney has released tell us about the appearances of every one of these Infinity Stones in the MCU. But along with the information about where these Infinity Stones were contained, we’ve also got the common revelation that these stones are indeed destroyed for good.

Infinity Stones Cannot Return In The MCU

The Infinity Saga was all about the Infinity Stones, so it is understandable that Marvel might want to take a break from those and focus on some other powerful artefacts like the Darkhold book that is said to arrive in WandaVision, the 10 power rings of the Mandarin that will be featured in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and so on. But Avengers: Endgame also showed us how crucial these Infinity Stones are for the preservation of a timeline in the MCU.

The Ancient One clearly mentioned that the Infinity Stones create the flow of time in the MCU. Removing one stone would create a new branched reality by splitting the natural flow of time. Thanos “destroyed” all 6 Infinity Stones. Initially, we believed that the Infinity Stones might still be doing their job of maintaining the flow of time in the form of atoms. But now that Disney’s official reveal states that the Stones are all destroyed, the theory of chaos in the multiverse begins to prevail once again. A bunch of nasty branches could have been created over the 5 years that were between Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. This has to be the main reason of the Multiverse of Madness.

Infinity Stones Cannot Return In The MCU

Marvel cannot just make Scarlet Witch the main reason of all the madness in the Multiverse after making such a huge deal about the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Endgame. So the question that we should ask now is that how exactly will Doctor Strange deal with the Multiverse of Madness without the Infinity Stones existing in the MCU. If the stones are brought to the main timeline from other timelines, then the problem of branched realities will reoccur anyway. So, there has to be a way to undo the destruction of the Infinity Stones.

Another reason of the Multiverse of Madness could be all the timelines that were created in Avengers: Endgame, such as a timeline where Loki ran with the Tesseract. A timeline where Thanos and the team of Guardians don’t exist since Thanos, Gamora and Nebula traveled to 2023 before the Guardians even teamed up. But the fact that the Infinity Stones are missing from the main timeline still has to have some consequence. Let’s wait and see how the problem of the missing Infinity Stones will be solved. Will the stones return? Possibly. But the how has to be answered soon.
