David Ayer Confirms that His Suicide Squad Cut Exists. Are We Getting That Too?

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad Cut Exists:

#ReleaseTheAyerCut has now become the new norm after the victory that people have achieved with the announcement of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Apparently, WB had meddled with 3 major DC films of 2016 & 2017. First, Batman V Superman was senselessly edited, and the Ultimate Edition fixed it. But later, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad & Zack Snyder’s Justice League got the order for major reshoots. Zack Snyder was let go and his film was changed entirely, but David Ayer stuck around and overlooked the reshoots that completely changed the entire third act. People have been asking whether a different cut of Ayer’s Suicide Squad also exists, and Ayer replied that it totally does.

David Ayer's Suicide Squad Cut Exists

Translation – “Of course it exists. And it is almost complete except for some visual effects.” It is obvious that there is a Director’s cut for almost every film. Sometimes the films that come out are exactly what the director intends to release while there are times where the directors show their cut to the studios, and then the decision for the reshoots is taken. That is what happened with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, although the reshoots were much more. The story elements were heavily altered. Joker’s entire arc was reduced to almost nothing.

In this version of Suicide Squad, Ayer had revealed that the opening of the movie would have been different, the final battle would’ve been different as Diablo would have survived. Joker would’ve made some sort of deal with Enchantress after Harley Quinn would’ve chosen to stay with her team. Quinn & Deadshot were supposed to fall for each other, and overall, the film was supposed to set up the arrival of Steppenwolf as well. But none of that happened.

David Ayer's Suicide Squad Cut Exists

The Ayer Cut certainly exists, but it is a totally different situation than Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Suicide Squad made a profit at the Box Office. 2021 is bringing us a sequel. So, it is more or less obvious that Ayer’s cut won’t see the light of the day because WB or HBO Max will have to invest more on a property that isn’t as familiar as the Snyder Cut. Ayer himself said that his cut possibly won’t release:

“It is simply not my call or my IP. I love WB – it’s always been my’ home studio’ I fully respect and support the incredible path the DCU is taking under their stewardship. My cut of Suicide Squad may always be just a rumor. And that’s just fine.”
