10 X-Men Mutants That Should Get To Play Bigger Roles To Play in MCU

X-Men Mutants Get To Play Bigger Roles in MCU

While the likes of Professor X, Jean Grey, Wolverine & Deadpool will certainly get to retain their major roles from the previous X-Men franchise, mutants like Magneto & Mystique, in particular, should be brought into the picture a bit later. The likes of Colossus, Beast & Nightcrawler would work well in small doses. But the following characters have to be given bigger roles and more importance than they got in the previous X-Men series:

Rogue

Rogue is a character that never got any importance after X-Men 1 & 2. The X-Men franchise never established her as the great & conflicted character she is in the comics and now we need it to be done in the MCU. A rumor suggested that she could be the antagonist in Captain Marvel 2. We’re not sure of that yet but it’d be amazing to see her make the strongest character in the MCU feel so vulnerable. Starting her off as a villain would certainly be a much needed change for the character’s on screen presence.

Cyclops

Cyclops is a bona fide leader. But again after X-Men 2, he was ditched like a C-list Marvel character. He should definitely start off as the leader of the X-Men in the MCU, and Marvel should give him almost as much importance as they gave to the likes of Captain America. And please don’t start off with a young Cyclops.

Gambit

Channing Tatum never got his Gambit movie. That will certainly not happen now as according to Mikey Sutton:

“Channing Tatum is gone. According to insiders there are no plans for Tatum to play Gambit at all. That Ship has sailed. Could it change? Anything is possible in the ‘Upsideown’, but it doesn’t look like it’s in the ‘cards’ right now. Apparently, they prefer somebody younger, a Harrison Ford type, a charmer who is a little rough around the edges…

…Gambit will appear in the movies but there is no solo film being discussed. What they see for Gambit is a TV series set in the MCU for Disney+. The tone talked about is a modern Western, a mutant Maverick, if you will, with sly wit and gritty action enveloped by a New Orleans flavor.”

This is a character that is so unused and yet so awesome. Marvel should make him a big deal like Deadpool or Cyclops. They could certainly do that by the aforementioned solo series plan.

Angel

Superheroes Who Got Major Power Upgrades

X-Men: The Last Stand brought in Angel, and then ditched him. X-Men: Apocalypse brought him in and even gave him metal wings. And still Angel didn’t feel great as a character. This has to change in the MCU. Warren Worthington III is a pretty cool mutant and we it’d be great if the MCU gives him a crucial role to play in the MCU.

Iceman

Superheroes Who Got Major Power Upgrades

Robert Drake aka “Bobby” aka Iceman could become someone of the utmost importance to the team of X-Men in the MCU. He could certainly be a part of some pretty “cool” fight sequences. So, Imagine him taking on someone like Human Torch. That’d be an amazing fight to witness. But even more than the fights, he has to be a character that higher in the ranks of authority when it comes to the team of X-Men.

Shadowcat

X-Men Mutants Get To Play Bigger Roles in MCU

This is a character that could actually hold her own Disney+ series. There were rumors Fox was about to give her a film if the Disney-Fox acquisition had not happened. While a film wouldn’t work since she isn’t a big bankable hero that would make big money at the Box Office, a Disney+ series could surely be nice for her. It’d allow people to be familiar with her character & abilities when she joins the X-Men in a film.

Cable

Deadpool 2 brought Josh Brolin in as Cable. We seriously do wish that this doesn’t change and Brolin gets to play a chunky role in the MCU as Cable. Even though he is not the most comic accurate version of the character (that’s like 6 foot 6 inches), he was still a complete bad-ass and Marvel could make him a crucial part of the X-Men, or maybe the X-Force team. In fact, Colossus & Domino would work perfectly along with him and Deadpool, so none of that should change.

Storm

Ororo Munroe should get importance as someone who is related to T’Challa. She might not become the wife of T’Challa in the MCU, but she could still be important as one of his long lost friends. She could become an important part of team Wakanda before she eventually joins the X-Men in the MCU. And maybe, just maybe she could actually be looked at as a love interest for T’Challa in Black Panther 3 if Nakia ends up dying in Black Panther 2.

Psylocke

Captain Britain is coming into the MCU probably as soon as Doctor Strange 2. He could also lead us to his sister Psylocke, who was pretty much undermined and wasted in X-Men: Apocalypse. She may not join the X-Men ever, but she could definitely be in whatever team is led by Captain Britain. Something like Excalibur maybe?

Jubilee

X-Men Mutants Get To Play Bigger Roles in MCU

Jubilee doesn’t need to be as important as someone like Cyclops. But we really wish Marvel does something with her, and not have an actor portray Jubliee just for the sake of appearing on screen for multiple films. Yes she was there in like 4 or 5 X-Men movies and did absolutely nothing. This is a character that even the X-Men animated shows have done justice to. Let’s hope that the MCU does the same.
