Connection Between ‘Black Widow’ & ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ Revealed

Black Widow is not coming out in about a month because COVID-19 has delayed the film. But it will have to release by August because it will lead us into the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was originally supposed to come out in August as well. Now, the premiere of Falcon & Winter Soldier might also get delayed so it could distance itself from Black Widow (also there’s a bit of shooting yet to be completed). Marvel will have to allow enough people watch Black Widow before they release The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because it’s all connected.

Connection Between Black Widow & The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

How is Black Widow, a prequel story connected to the next adventure of Sam & Bucky? Well, it has to be through Secretary Ross. Rumor has it that Thaddeus Ross will have a much bigger role in Black Widow than we think. Similar should be the case with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because Ross will begin to assemble his Thunderbolts team right from Black Widow itself. We’ve heard rumors that Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp will appear in the first MCU Disney+ series. And she will appear as a part of the Thunderbolts, so the first batch of the team could perhaps appear in the series.

Potential Spoilers for Black Widow follow.

MCU Timeline

In fact, We Got This Covered states that Yelena Belova will reprise her role in the upcoming series. Moreover, it is not just her, but Taskmaster will also appear in the series. Both these characters will be a part of the Thunderbolts team up. This makes sense because the post credits scene of Black Widow is rumored to have these characters join Secretary Ross.

Connection Between Black Widow & The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Another possible connection that Black Widow could have with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the mind control serum. The final trailer of Black Widow revealed that Taskmaster is controlling all the red room agents even though they are fully conscious. These agents are enhanced with a replica of the Super Solider serum, but it also allows the government have full control over the actions of their soldiers. This mind control serum might come in play in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Wyatt Russell’s John Walker / US Agent will also be given this version of the serum. So, even though he wants to do good and his intentions are noble, he will actually be following every order (good or bad) that the government will give him.

Considering that the government couldn’t control the actions of Steve Rogers, it makes sense that they’d want to be in control of the new Captain America that they appoint. This mind control version of the serum is what will probably cause problems because it is shady and takes the free will of a person away.

Connection Between Black Widow & The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Because of these connections, Marvel will have to release Black Widow before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They cannot release them together and they can’t release Black Widow after the series. This is why the delay of Black Widow is worrisome. This kind of delay can derail the entire MCU because everything is connected. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will further lead us into WandaVision. Then Loki will follow. And all three of these series will connect to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Black Widow is going to kick off the future slate. Here’s how the rest of the Phase 4 slate looks like – The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in August 2020, The Eternals on November 6, 2020, WandaVision in December 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on February 12, 2021, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021, Loki in Spring 2021, Spider-Man 3 on July 16, 2021, Ms. Marvel in 2021, What If? In Summer 2021, Hawkeye in Fall 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder on November 5, 2021. Following these are Moon Knight and She-Hulk. Black Panther 2 has been scheduled for May 6, 2022. And 7 other unannounced films have release dates for 2022 & 2023.
