#10: Green Room (2015)
When a rock band stumbles upon a terrifying act of violence, they become the next target, as the perpetrators do not intend to keep any witnesses. If you want to experience intense stress than watch this movie and beware of even the smallest spoilers. The Violence in this movie can unsettle even the veterans of this genre.
#9: Split (2016)
Shyamalan made a spectacular comeback with Split and proved that he has still got it. Split is a fantastic thriller that is carried by the amazing performance of James McAvoy. The story is very intense and it will get under your skin. You won’t be able to watch certain sequences if you cannot handle intense suspense and thrill.
#8: Nocturnal Animals (2016)
The movie features Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams in the lead and if that’s not enough to get your attention, then we cannot help you. Nocturnal Animals is a lot more than it looks on the surface. It is a dark artsy movie that also has plenty of substance. The sequence involving Tony’s (Gyllenhaal) family was one of the most intense experiences of all time.
#7: Bridge of Spies (2015)
Bridge of Spies is a suspenseful historical drama that depicts the events of the Cold War, particularly when the US and Soviet Russia exchanged spies. It does not feature over-the-top action as one might think, it focuses more on the negotiations. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are an amazing pair that just keep on giving.
#6: The Gift (2015)
The Gift is a very tense and unsettling movie that you will remember for a long time. The movie is so well written that after a while you won’t know what to believe and it will leave you restless. The characters are believable and the pacing of the movie is perfect for a thriller. The movie is full of twists and turns that are just shocking.
#5: Searching (2018)
Searching has a pretty linear story but it is done so exceptionally that it becomes something special. A desperate father breaks into her missing daughter’s laptop to look for clues to find her and that leads to several revelations. Searching is a ground-breaking and innovative movie as it uses technology in a unique way.
#4: Don’t Breathe (2016)
The life of three unsuspecting teenagers takes a turn for the worse when they break into the house of a blind man as he is not as helpless as it seems. The tension in this movie does not go away and no one can predict the events of this movie. Don’t Breathe is an amazing addition to the thriller genre.
#3: 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
The fans absolutely had no idea what to expect from this movie and that worked in favor of the movie. If you want to enjoy this movie to the fullest then avoid any kind of spoilers on the internet. The writing, performances, and direction are perfect but it is the twists and turns that make this movie something very special.
#2: Get Out (2017)
Get Out is one of the most refreshing horror/thriller movies to come out in a long while. It does not rely on jump scares and intense music. The movie also touches upon certain issues related to racism. It is a wonderfully directed movie by Jordan Peele and it is one of the best directorial debuts of all time.
#1: A Quiet Place (2018)
The premise of this movie is tailor-made for the thriller genre. To live in a post-apocalyptic world where strange creatures will massacre you if you make even a small sound, sure sounds terrifying. It becomes nerve-racking at times and it makes even the audience feel helpless. Let’s just hope that the sequel maintains the quality of this movie.
