Before Endgame no one took Ant-Man seriously. Even Scott didn’t take himself seriously. But he was one of the unsung heroes of Avengers Endgame. Some fans might argue the rat had a major role to play, but it was Ant-man through his antics who made time travel possible! From someone so little, he has become so huge (figuratively speaking).
In the climax, we all remember when Thanos attacked, he saved three members of the team. And that wasn’t the end of it, he punched down a Leviathan. Adding to that, he was seen shoving a Leviathan into a magical portal. There was so much he did, and thanks to him Avengers had a fighting chance. But throughout Endgame, he seemingly gained a new power while being in the Quantum Realm.
From what we know and have seen, Scott Lang is a proficient combatant. Even though he gets caught,
he still is a masterful thief and has a degree in engineering. With his suit, he can shrink down to the size of an Ant. He can even go subatomic and travel through time! He has projectiles that shrink things or enlarges them. And he can grow up to become the Giant-Man. But growing big really drains Scott big time!
He revealed that he passed out when he did this for the first time in the Civil War. Then in the Civil War, Scott was in dire need of some orange slices. He was running around as Giant-Man for a very long time in Ant-Man and the Wasp. So, he actually passed out in the water. Hope had to bring him back. But in Endgame, we saw Scott fight as Giant-Man for a long time. And he was still well enough to continue fighting when he shrunk. So the question is, why was Scott didn’t get drained out in any way?
Fighting as Giant-Man almost had no impact on his body. Was it that his stamina became better? Or did the Quantum Realm actually make him more durable? Scott really spent a lot of time in the Quantum Realm. He revealed that he was in there for roughly 5 straight hours which is huge. Then the Hulk ran time through him. So, did all this change his physiology and give him extra durability?
It could be possible. Because we’ve seen Janet gain a bunch of powers from the Quantum Realm. In the same way, Scott could now have powers beyond his suit. He could even have other powers apart from the longer durability.
That would be a great aspect to explore in Ant-Man 3. Moreover, we’ve been theorizing that the Quantum Realm could lead us to the Fantastic Four also.
So, if the Quantum Realm does give them powers, then it could give Scott some powers too and we could see great enhancements in him leading to Avengers 5, and the next phase.
Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 will probably arrive on July 28, 2022. Director Peyton Reed has been confirmed in November 2019 to lead the project with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Micahel Pena, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer will reprise their roles as Ant-Man, Wasp, Luis, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne respectively.
Michael Douglas has confirmed that the filming will begin in 2021 and that’s why we can see an initial release date in 2022. Also, it sits well with Marvel’s timeline.
