Avengers: Endgame Script Reveals the Exact Age of Captain America

The entire script of Avengers: Endgame has been released on the internet. And it has revealed a few new details for us to fathom. We got to know that along with the snapped characters we saw on screen, there were 3 other characters who turned into dust. Apparently, Secretary Ross, Jane Foster and Wong were also snapped out of existence. We never really knew their fate, but now we know. Another detail that we’ve now figured out is Captain America’s exact age.

Avengers: Endgame Exact Age of Old Captain America

Apparently, the Old Man Steve Rogers that we find sitting on the bench is actually “112 years old.” Here’s what’s been mentioned in the script of Endgame:

“EXT AVENGERS COMPOUND, RIVERBANK – CONTINUOUS

Work crews have cleared a space overlooking the river.

There, AN OLD MAN sits on a bench, staring out at the Hudson.

Move around him to find SAM watching from A FEW YARDS AWAY.

SAM WILSON

Hey, Cap.

The man turns and we now see: STEVE ROGERS, age 112.”

Now keep in mind, this age doesn’t really count the years when Steve Rogers was frozen in ice. At the age of 27, Steve Rogers crashed into ice. He came out 66 years later in 2011. So technically, his age in The Avengers is 94. He goes back to meet Peggy Carter in 2023, i.e. at the age of 105, or if you subtract 66 out of this, then his age was 39. That means, he lived with Peggy for 73 years before he returned to pass on the shield to Falcon. If you add 73 years to Cap’s technical age, then the total comes to 178! Damn that’s old.

Marvel Releases The Final Scene of Endgame

Avengers: Endgame writers believe that Cap stayed in the same timeline, and there have always been two Caps since 1945. Here’s what Stephen McFeely told Backstory Magazine:

“Here’s how we reconcile it. We think there have always been two Caps from 1945 to, say, now, and we just didn’t know that. That’s the loop, right? It’s not Back to the Future rules, it’s branch reality rules. This is not stepping on a butterfly that turns the world into Biff’s casino. You can’t alter your future by going back to the past. We sort of created our own time travel rules wherein, as the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) says, if you remove an Infinity Stone from a timeline, that creates a branch reality.

So, his younger self is on ice somewhere and it’s only in 2011 [when Steve is unfrozen] that there are technically two Steves running around — to the point where if you were to look closely at Peggy’s funeral, there’d be an old man in the back named Roger Stevens.”

But according to their own rules of time travel, this shouldn’t be the case. The reality should be that Cap went back, created a new timeline by living with Peggy, and then when Peggy died in that new timeline, he returned to give Falcon the shield. This is what makes more sense, so this is what we’d follow.
