Ant-Man And The Wasp Director Replies to a Major Fan Theory

Ant-Man and the Wasp is out on Digital HD and people now have the liberty to own the movie for themselves. The film took a deep dive into explaining what exactly the Quantum Realm is and by now, we all know the complexity of it and how it will be really important for Avengers 4. But there was a lot more hidden within Ant-Man and the Wasp itself. It was probably the second best movie in terms of MCU solo sequels.

It did not interact a lot with the larger MCU, but what it did very well was set up the third and probably final Ant-Man movie. Director Peyton Reed has successfully put out 2 movies in the Ant-Man franchise and looking at the profitability that this franchise has brought to the table, we will surely get the 3rd movie in this franchise.

People may argue that it did not make as big numbers as the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and now Black Panther do, but you cannot leave out the fact that this is “Ant-Man” we are talking about. He is a C list character from Marvel that no one really knew about until the film came out. Now, this character is loved almost as much as the others from the MCU.

So, whatever buildup Ant-Man and the Wasp brought us, we need to see the conclusion to that. Director Peyton Reed recently got to talking with Screen Rant. The website asked him about how he was going to pay off everything he set up. Director Reed mentioned that he is very open to an Ant-Man 3. Here’s how the Conversation went:

Screen Rant: Ant-Man and the Wasp opened many story possibilities for Ghost and Jan and Bill as well as Scott and Hope and his daughter Cassie. Do you hope to pay these off, these threads off in the near future? Possibly with an Ant-Man and the Wasp, I guess 2 slash 3, or even a Wasp solo film?

Peyton Reed: Well, I hope that we get to do a third one. I’m being completely sincere when I say we really don’t know yet, because I know in the run up to the next Avengers movie, everything is being played very, very close to the vest. But as we were writing and shooting this movie, we certainly set things up in this movie that we hope we get to pay off. And we talked a lot about everybody’s arcs and where we want everybody to go next. So, I’m really hopeful that we’ll get to do a third one, because I really do. I really have fallen in love with these characters and I think there’s a lot more story to tell with them.”

So we can be sure that Marvel has plans for a final Ant-Man movie. While he cleared this query of ours, he also addressed to another one of the fan theories running around the Internet. He replied to a tweet from Fandango which had him asking about the lose Hydra agent that is still active in the MCU while many fans were confused about who exactly could Sonny Burch from Ant-Man and the Wasp be working for.

Well, the recent fan theory suggested that Burch’s mysterious buyer of the Quantum Technology could actually be Mitchell Carlson, the Hydra agent that survived the climax of the first Ant-Man movie and even acquired a vial of the Cross Particles. So, here’s how Reed addressed to this theory:

Ant-Man and the Wasp Director

According to what he says, we could imagine that Carlson could surely be returning in Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 and so could Sonny Burch. It will be a major finale event and we will see the likes of Ghost, Bill Foster and Janet as well. There is a possibility that Darren Cross may re-emerge from the Quantum Realm. So, Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 could be a major blast.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be out on DVD and BluRay on October 16. Here’s the official Synopsis of the film:

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.”
