Avengers: Endgame – Thanos Almost Broke Cap’s Shield With His Bare Hands

Thanos Broke Cap’s Shield With Hands:

The final battle of Avengers: Endgame was a massive roller coaster. It dropped from highs to lows within an instant and all we did was watch whatever’s happening on-screen with big jaw drops & loud screams! Right after the heroes Assemble, we feel happy and in the very next instant, Thanos turns that feeling of optimism into a major threat. Iron Man, Captain America & Thor fought him together and it still wasn’t enough. Thor & Iron Man were sidelined easy-peasy!

Strongest Avengers

Captain America made the final stand against Thanos, and the two literally were at their best. When all chips were down, Cap finally lifted Thor’s hammer and he almost ended up defeating Thanos. His every strike was for the head! And all of this really pissed Thanos. Despite Cap having the hammer and being able to summon lightning, Thanos ended up turning the tables. He used his double-edged sword to his greatest advantage and gave us the most terrifying scene of the MCU. This scene was even more terrifying than Thanos stabbing Tony Stark. Thanos struck Captain America’s Shield and was able to break the strongest metal on Earth!

Thanos Broke Cap’s Shield With Hands

The look that you see on Captain America’s face is the look of fear. He did this with his mysterious blade! No one thought that breaking Captain America’s Shield was possible even though it was heavily teased back in Age of Ultron. It happened, but just imagine if did not use that blade to get through Vibranium. Imagine if he did it with his bare hands! Yes, that was a possibility. In a recent video of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame: The Art of the Movie book, we get to see Thanos actually breaking the shield into pieces with his bare hands. Imagine the look on Captain America’s face if that would have happened. Forget Cap, we would’ve been frightened to hell. Here’s a look at it:

Thanos unleashing his killer Harambe’s hands on the shield would have been jaw-dropping. But that would have made Thanos seem even more powerful than we thought he was. Just this concept art wear Thanos breaks Cap’s shield, there are some other amazing unused concept arts used in the following video. Take a look:

It shows us so many alternate time travel suit designs, Nebula picking up the Infinity Gauntlet just like the comics, team iron man coming together, Doctor Strange wearing Iron Man’s suit are all shown in this video. We would have loved any of these scenes coming true, but it’s okay that it didn’t happen.

One concept art we hoped to see in this book was Thanos throwing Cap’s decapitated head. Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that Thanos from 2013 would have first gone on to fight the Avengers in that year and killed them for good. Here’s what they had to say during their Comic-Con panel:

“Stephen McFeely – When Thanos comes back, and he comes through a hole that Nebula has created and all that, we had to decide what the playing field was for that final battle. And one of the ideas was that she opens a time rift, he walks through from 2014 Earth, where he’s already gone and laid waste to the whole place. And so our heroes come out of the dust, they see this figure walking toward them, he crosses from light to dark or whatever, and it’s Thanos, and he tosses something at their feet. And it rolls and lands at Steve’s feet, and it’s his own head.

Christopher Markus – With the helmet still on.”

The Avengers Captain America Thor

Feige did reveal that we might see this sequence in the concept art book, but sadly that did not happen. Anyway, Feige revealed the reason this scene not being in the film to Empire Magazine:

“One of the ideas was, when they finish the time heist, they returned to a world [in 2023] that Thanos had already conquered, that involved all of that, the throne made of bones and skulls and had him tossing, like a bowling ball, Captain America’s severed skull head, still in the cowl, to Captain America. And it was pretty cool, but the logic to get there defeated us. I think it ended up in a set of pages at one point in the script. There might be a piece of concept art somewhere with it.”

Let’s hope that we’d see concept art of this dark scene someday.
