Top 10 Best Sci-Fi Movies of This Decade Ranked
Sci-Fi Movies of This Decade:
Science Fiction is one of the most loved genres out there as it has Aliens, Astronauts, Time Travels, Sentient Robots, etc, what’s not to love? Sci-Fi is also a very controversial genre as everybody interprets them differently but these ten movies are definitely above the rest.
#10: Looper (2012)
Joseph Gordon Levitt is a very underrated actor who has given us many amazing movies and Looper is one of his best works. Looper revolves around time travel, in which mobsters send men from the future to kill people in the past. Looper is a brilliant movie experience, as it has a very unique premise and all the actors are fantastic.
#9: War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)
As the name suggests, all hell breaks loose in this movie as humans go on an all-out war against the apes, the result of which would determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet. It is the 3rd film in the rebooted franchise, and both the earlier movies are equally as good as this one. The people who argued that ‘there isn’t enough war’, missed the whole point of the movie.
#8: The Martian (2015)
No one could have thought that watching Matt Damon grow potatoes on Mars would be so entertaining. Matt Damon continues to surprise us time and time again and he reserved one of his greatest performances for the Martian. Directed by the great Ridley Scott, The Martian will never disappoint you.
#7: Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
What would you do if you are forced to live the same day over and over again? (Seems like some of us are already going through this). Edge of Tomorrow is an awesome entertainer and it never drops its intensity. It is packed with action and the CGI is very well done.
#6: Her (2013)
Joaquin Phoenix has always been a fantastic actor, and the ones who have discovered him after Joker, have missed out on some very great performances. The movie Her is about a lonely writer who develops an unlikely relationship with an operating system. Her is not your usual action-packed sci-fi, it is all about the relationships.
#5: Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
George Miller returned to the big screen with one of the best action movies of all time. This movie does not step over the originals, it creates a unique identity for itself. The movie is absolutely insane and ridiculous, which makes it even more awesome. Movies like this hardly come once in a decade.
#4: Interstellar (2014)
Interstellar is a masterpiece. There is not a single weak point in this movie. The acting, direction, cinematography, score, editing – everything is top-notch. You will still love the movie even if you are not a fan of this genre. We still cannot understand how Interstellar was not even nominated for Best Movie Oscar.
#3: Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Blade Runner 2049 is one of the greatest sequels of all time and no one thought that following 1982’s Blade Runner could be possible. The movie manages to retain the first movie’s atmosphere and intensity. This movie is not for the average audience who like to see things blow up.
#2: Inception (2010)
Whenever Christopher Nolan makes a Sci-fi movie, we cannot contain ourselves, as we know it’s a certainty that the movie is going to be a masterpiece. Inception is truly one of a kind thanks to its concept. Nolan wanted to make this movie for years and we are glad that he took his sweet time to finally do it.
#1: Arrival (2016)
This is what a true Science Fiction movie looks like. Arrival is a terrific movie and it delivers on every single aspect. The movie will not spoon feed you, it expects you to keep up with its smartness and if you manage to do that then you’ll have an experience that you will remember for the rest of your lives.
