Jim Carrey’s family had to work very hard to make ends meet as they did not have any money. At one point he and his family all worked as janitors and security guards at a factory to make a living and they even had to live in a trailer for a while as they did not have a house of their own.

Jim Carrey was also heavily considered for the role of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), both of these roles eventually went to Johnny Depp.

Jim Carrey was shattered after he came to know that his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White lost her life to a drug overdose on September 28, 2015, in Los Angeles. Jim Carrey suffered another blow when White’s husband and mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him claiming that Carrey provided White with illegal prescription drugs and STDs. The case was ultimately dismissed.
