Galactus is a God-Level Entity who devours plants just to satiate his hunger. He is not good or bad necessarily, he’s just hungry, which is super relatable. Wouldn’t you do everything in your power to eat something tasty?

After Thanos was defeated in Endgame, fans are eager to know who the next Big Baddy is going to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there is no one more suitable than the devourer, Galactus.

We caught a glimpse of Galactus in 2007 in the movie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and we want to stay as far as possible from that abomination of a movie.

#1: Creation and Inspiration

Galactus was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966, as an antagonist for the Fantastic Four. Jack Kirby stated that in order to separate Galactus from the rest of the generic villains in the Marvel Universe, he went to the Bible for help and came up with Galactus. He modelled Galactus after God himself.

Galactus was initially a Mortal being, he was a space explorer named Galan. Galan lived in the previous universe that existed before the Big Bang which began the current universe. After Galan’s universe came to an end, he escaped in a spacecraft only to gain cosmic abilities by passing near a star. He then merged with the Sentience of the Universe to become Galactus.

Galactus is one of the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel Universe. He has God-like powers which include Cosmic awareness, telepathy, telekinesis, Energy Projection, Size Alteration, Matter Transmutation, Creation of Life, Resurrection, Soul Manipulation, Teleportation, Creation of Force Fields and Interdimensional portals, Recreation of Dead Worlds and destroying multiple solar systems simultaneously. Galactus decided to create Heralds to locate worlds for sustenance. He has created a total of 17 Heralds to date. Galactus approached the planet of Zann-La and decided to devour it, but he spared the planet when Norrin Radd offered to become his herald, and that is how Silver Surfer was created.

The Phoenix was a cosmic creature from the previous universe. Galan was only able to survive the Big Bang and was reborn as Galactus due to the Phoenix Force which decided to help him at that moment. Galactus got his God-Like powers thanks to the Phoenix Force.

In 1999, Galactus the Devourer loses his life after Silver Surfer turns his life-consuming machine on him. His death allowed another Cosmic entity named Abraxas to come into the picture. Abraxas is an evil entity and he is the representation of destruction, and after Galactus was no more to stop him, he went on a Rampage. Galactus was then revived by Franklin Richards and Valeria Von Doom to save the World.

Franklin Richards is a mutant beyond Omega-Level with vast reality-manipulation powers and psionic powers. He is the young son of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four. After reviving Galactus in order to save the world from Abraxas, Franklin Richards made Galactus into his Herald and the two of them even became friends after this whole situation.

During the First Infinity Gauntlet event, written by Jim Starlin, Thanos managed to gather all the infinity stones and became the most powerful being in the entire universe. Galactus realised the fact that he cannot defeat Thanos alone, So he asked the mortal Adam Warlock to help him. Galactus and Adam Warlock along with other cosmic beings challenged Thanos. But they were no match for Thanos, as he wiped the floor with all of them fairly easily.
