Even with such a long runtime, Avengers: Endgame could not give us enough of Iron Man. Tony Stark is in many ways the progenitor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was his movie that started the franchise that went on to become everyone’s favourite superhero shared universe and the world’s most profitable movie series ever. Iron Man’s death came as a shock to many even though it was a long time coming and almost everybody knew it was going to happen in Endgame. Infinity War had already spelled Iron Man’s doom when Doctor Strange had revealed there was just one possible timeline where the Avengers defeat Thanos. And that timeline also included the death of our favourite Avenger.
But there was another scene involving Doctor Strange and Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame that was edited out of the theatrical version of the movie. And this scene had the potential to change the very way we look at how Tony Stark sacrificed his life to save the universe. Presenting – New BTS video shows important Iron Man-Doctor Strange scene removed from Endgame!!
A Behind-the-scenes image from the sets of Avengers: Endgame has recently taken the internet and nerd world by storm. This image reveals that a very important dialogue exchange between Doctor Strange and Iron Man was never shown in the Big Screens. Two videos shared by Jimmy Rich of Pinewood Studios were uploaded into his Instagram account. The videos in question showed the climactic battle taking place in Avengers: endgame where the Avengers and the Mad Titan and his army duke it out in the rubble of the Avengers Headquarters. The video shows Iron Man asking a very important question to the Sorcerer Supreme, a question of paramount importance that needed to be shown to the fans to understand the full extent of his sacrifice.
Out of the two videos, one shows Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Junior discussing their roles in Avengers: Endgame with the Russo Brothers, Directors of Infinity War and Endgame. The second video is the one we are talking about. The actors are seen sprinting in the scene. Tony Stark then asks Doctor Strange about that “One Timeline” where the Avengers win the battle. Doctor Strange reveals that he cannot answer his question otherwise that timeline would never come to fruition. Here is the video we are talking about:
What this means is that Tony Stark did not sacrifice his life because it was what Doctor Strange had told him to do. He did it of his own volition and was not trying to enact the plans of fate. That sacrifice his made after snapping everything back to normal and killing Thanos and his forces – that was all Tony Stark. Doctor Strange had nothing to do with it since he never revealed what is going to happen in the future. That just makes Tony Stark’s sacrifice even deeper. Tony went head first into a fight he knew he was going to lose and he still won, albeit at the cost of his own life.
