Avengers: Endgame is coming in hot and it is bringing the death of a few Avengers that we have grown to love over the decade that we have spent watching all the MCU movies. Because this is going to be such a massive event, and the magnitude of it is going to be huge, we feel that the stakes should also be the highest. So, with high stakes comes the possibility of deaths in a story.
Infinity War was full of death and destruction as the movie actually ended with the snap that killed off half the population of the entire Universe. Now, the survivors are going to make their final stand against the Mad Titan to reverse all that, and this is where they may meet their ultimate demise. The probability to be killed off in the story is much higher for certain characters as compared to the others.
The likes of Black Widow and Hulk may be death proof, and the likes of Iron Man, Thor & Hawkeye lie in the “May or May Not Die” list. But the highest probability to die is for Captain America as Chris Evans has already bid farewell and even though that doesn’t mean Cap is surely going to die, all things still point to his demise.
Since Captain America is not going to continue within the MCU, it is more or less a given that his story arc will come to an end with death. He is not someone that can be retired and benched while others continue the fight. It will be really difficult to keep him away from the fight, and that can only happen if he is killed off. So, this isn’t even a spoiler anymore. Now we may have got the confirmation for Cap’s death from a rather unlikely source.
The Winner of 23 Women Singles Grand Slam Titles in Tennis, Serena Williams was present at the 91st Oscars, and she may have revealed the fact that Cap dies in the upcoming film. Coming from her Instagram story was a video of Chris Evans who was standing just a few feet away when you can hear Williams say, “I was devastated that he died in that movie, Avengers.”
Now, this may be a certain mistake or a way to troll the fans who are eager to know anything and everything. As if you think about it, how did Williams get to know about Cap’s death? There hasn’t been any test screening, and there won’t ever be one where the viewers will get to watch the whole movie before the Premiere. So, all this could just be a hoax and nothing more. We can take it as a grain of salt. But still, we cannot rule out the fact that Cap is going down.
Here’s what Chris Evans said about leaving this role for good:
“Well, you know, my contract is over, so that’s as far as I know. [I’ll miss] everything [about Captain America]. I mean, it’s not just the character, it’s the people – the experience, such good movies, such wonderful memories. I’ll miss a lot.
You want to get off the train before they push you off. I used to have thoughts of wanting to climb to the top of something, or wanting to be somebody. But when you get the thing that you think you want and then you wake up and realize that you still have pockets of sadness, and that your struggle will reinvent itself, you stop chasing after those things and it is liberating, because you realize that right here, right now, is exactly all I need.”
Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26. Here’s the official synopsis:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
