MCU: Bollywood Superstar Farhan Akhtar Joins Ms. Marvel on Disney+

When it comes to Marvel, we would be right to think that they’re the best at expanding, and connecting multiple storylines. Throughout its history, Marvel has managed to bring us our favorite characters on screen. Not only do we love the characters, but we also love the actors playing them. For example, Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., Captain America, played by Chris Evans, or let’s just say every character in Marvel is played by the perfect actor. Next in line is newcomer Imam Vellani, who’d be playing Kamala Khan. We’re yet to see her take the lead in Ms. Marvel, but we are sure that she will raise the bar high. Marvel never misses out on a character casting.

Earlier, Deadline reported the news about Iman Vellani’s casting as Kamala Khan. It stated that Vellani was a part of the Next Wave Committee at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival. It also reported that she was set to bring more diversity in the entertainment industry. The outlet wrote:

“Though this marks Vellani’s first major Hollywood production, she has already made tries in trying to help diversify the industry. At the 2019 Toronto Film Festival, she was part of the Next Wave Committee which was tasked with adding a special tag to films — already programmed into other categories — which they believed would resonate with their peers.”

Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk And Moon Knight Series for Disney+

Now, Ms. Marvel might just get a lot more interesting. Rumors suggest that we have an overseas superstar joining the cast. India Today reported that Farhan Akhtar has been cast in an unknown Marvel Studios project. Let’s connect the dots here. Ms. Marvel is currently filming in Thailand, Bangkok for final scenes. This comes just in time before cameras start rolling for Captain Marvel 2 in the coming months. Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar is also in Bangkok. It is possible that Farhan is in Bangkok shooting for Ms. Marvel. Maybe a major cameo? Who knows. Or maybe he could even go further to play a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Casts Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel has completed filming in Atlanta, Georgia, with the director duo Bilal Fallah and Adil El Arbi. They went ahead to thank the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, for the opportunity. But the team is currently in Bangkok for the final shots, or as we could call it – the cherry on the cake. Farhan is nothing short of a superstar in Bollywood. Considering his popularity in India, it’s hard to believe that he will be getting cast for a minor or trivial role.

Farhan Akhtar has contributed a lot to Bollywood. With blockbusters like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rock On, he has proved time and again that he is not just an actor, but a talented director, writer, singer, producer, and lyricist as well. While the world waits for his latest action thriller Toofan, Farhan goes on to surprise us even further with his new endeavor. It will be definitely interesting to see him rock the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his plethora of skills, and diversify the MCU even further.

There have been some appearances of Vellani as Mr. Marvel. The Iman Vellani Brasil account on Twitter posted a video of Iman Vellani on the set of Ms. Marvel climbing atop the roof of a house as the MCU’s Ms. Marvel. When Kamala Khan first discovers her embiggening powers, she subconsciously transforms into the spitting image of her hero “Ms. Marvel” — albeit in Carol Danvers’ black and yellow costume. Check out the video below:

Ms. Marvel was created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie, and first appeared in Ms. Marvel #1 in 2014. She’s undoubtedly a highly popular character in the Marvel Universe. Vellani is also set to reprise her role in Captain Marvel 2, alongside Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau.

Directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. The series is set to stream sometime in 2021.
