The tale is set along the holy ghats of the river Ganges and depicts the intertwined stories of four people who live in the city of Varanasi. With mind-blowing direction, amazing writing as well as brilliant performances delivered by all the four leads, the movie is indeed no less than a masterpiece way ahead of its time. Kaushal plays a low-caste boy who falls in love with an upper-caste girl who dies on a trip.

Starring the amazingly talented Vicky Kaushal and the fresh face of the Indian digital space, Angira Dhar, the film was released in February 2018 exclusively on Netflix. The movie is a story of two people who enter into a convenience marriage to be able to buy a home but then fall in love. Kaushal plays Sanjay, who’s an IT employee in a bank.

This dark thriller shows a cat and mouse chase between the serial killer Ramanna ( Nawazzudin Siddiqui) and the corrupt policeman Raghav. Vicky plays Raghav, playing a villain for the very first time. The film was based on the life of the real-life serial killer Raman Raghav who operated in Mumbai in the 1960s. The film had a lot of gory, violent scenes which makes it an uncomfortable watch. The movie sends across the message that the good and the bad, everything is within us.

Raazi is a 2018 Indian spy movie which starred Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead and is directed by Meghna Gulzar. The movie is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’  and is a true account of an Indian RAW agent who is married off in Pakistan on her father’s orders to disseminate information to India during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Bhatt plays a promising Sehmat and her acting was highly appreciated by everyone in this movie. Vicky plays Sehmat’s husband in the movie and delivers an amazing performance.

 5. URI: The Surgical Strike

This Vicky Kaushal starrer movie is based on the surgical strike done by the Indian army in retaliation to Pakistan’s Uri attack in 2016. His portrayal of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill was so good that this movie has made him a star. Not just commercially, he is earning plaudits from the critics as well and rightly so. His conviction to the character, the way he moulded himself in the body language of an army officer is worth appreciating. Though all of his performances speak volumes of his versatility and his talent, this one has definitely found home in the hearts of the audiences the most.

Another anthology film after Bombay talkies, Lust stories is a collection of four short films segments directed by four directors: Zoya Akhtar,  Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Bannerjee and Karan Johar. Kaushal plays the role of Paras in Karan Johar’s segment of the movie.

 7. Sanju

One of the most commercially successful but controversial Bollywood movies of 2018 would premiere on Netflix India this month. The movie is based on the life of the Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, relationship with his father, his addiction with drugs, arrest for alleged association with the 1993 Bombay bombings, comeback in the industry, the eventual drop of charges from Bombay blasts, and release after completing his jail term. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal, and Vicky Kaushal. The movie is written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Kaushal plays Sanju’s best friend, Kamlesh.

 8. Manmarziyaan

The love story set in Punjab shows a complex love triangle of Rumi, her boyfriend, and her fiancé. The amazing music by Amit Trivedi makes the movie a must watch. It explores complex human emotions that arise when people make mistakes in matters of the heart. Vicky plays the Punjabi Rap singer Vicky Sandhu and has an amazing chemistry with Tapsee Pannu.

 9. Zubaan

Vicky Kaushal’s most underrated and the least performer of all, Zubaan was a musical drama released in 2016. The movie is centered around a man who goes on a self-exploration journey after losing himself and music plays a huge role in the process. Sara Jane Dias plays the lead opposite Kaushal in the movie.
