There are reports that Marvel Studios is setting up a replacement for S.H.I.E.L.D. in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with some suggestions also in there that we can see Nick Fury working for another organization with the name S.W.O.R.D. and fan are in a lot of doubt over the future of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As we all know that it was Nick Fury who disappeared after the events of the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron but returned in a very short scene of the movie Avengers: Infinity War. But, there are some revelations from the side of Tie-in comics that Fury was working with Maria Hill after the separation of superheroes in the movie Age of Ultron.
The reason Fury started working individually and not under the name of S.H.I.E.L.D. could be that all the superheroes have left the side of each other and it was the duty of Fury to bring them all under one roof and he knew that having S.H.I.E.L.D. with him isn’t going to impress a lot of superheroes out there.
So, instead of that he went on to work on the bad things happened in-between the superheroes and is going to play a really major role in the last movie of Phase 3 that is Avengers: Endgame and also the movies of Phase 4 in which he is going to be the only link between Avengers and us on the big screen. Also, with Captain Marvel coming having a younger Fury in the movie we will definitely get to see a lot of Fury’s origin story.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is the movie which will kick-start the Phase 4 of the MCU and fans are really eager to see as who is going to be the ultimate villain of Phase 4 as fans are really expecting villains like Galactus in phase 4 and we have to wait for it.
But, one thing is sure that we are going to see Maria Hill and Nick Fury in the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home and there are also chances that on the streaming service of Disney, Disney+ we can be able to see a show centered around the character of Nick Fury. But, nothing concrete is out on the market yet and we all can’t wait to hear the right and final decisions.
The character of Nick Fury is really huge as we all know that as he was the one who brought up the concept of Avengers is the one who recruits all the superheroes together. New Organization In The Movie Spider-Man: Far From Home:
We have already said this earlier above that Tie-in comics are the ones which have suggested that Nick Fury and Maria Hill has worked together but outside S.H.I.E.L.D. after the events of Age of Ultron movie. The role they’re playing now in the world is quite similar to the title of ‘Global Troubleshooters’.
Nick Fury is the one who has a lot of weapons and machinery at his disposal which he has stored for his private use while he was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. are the things with which they were doing their work. As we can see that he have links with a lot of members still.
As while his time at S.H.I.E.L.D. a man with the name Klein was there who is now working for a company by the name Transpo and is the one who clears all the footprints of Fury. Also, in one of the scenes of the comics, we can see that Fury is still in touch with War Machine aka. James Rhodes.
But, by the set photos and also some of the BTS photos of the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home we can have an idea that the man is still the main man of the S.H.I.E.L.D. as we all know that it is none other than Nick Fury who is going to provide Spider-Man a new Stealth Suit in the movie because the original suit has been left out at home by Spider-Man.
But, there’s more than this as the suit which Spider-Man is going to have in the movie is quite similar to the one S.H.I.E.L.D. gave to Spider-Man in the comics ‘Secret Wars’. So, there are chances that Nick Fury is operating a new organization with the technology of S.H.I.E.L.D. he had with him. But, all these things are just arrows flying in the air.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Is Over In The Movie:
We all know that Marvel Studios and Marvel Television work independently and there are chances that we are going to have a taste of it now as there are chances that Marvel Television is going to show the things of S.H.I.E.L.D. in which Marvel Studios have no interest in as we all know that two new seasons of the popular series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are coming in the year 2019 and 2020 as it has been reported by none other than ABC.
Also, we have seen that after the events of the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier the S.H.I.E.L.D. was on the brink of closing and eliminating from the MCU and maybe this is what we are going to see next in the MCU because Marvel Studios seems to be done with S.H.I.E.L.D. and may bring a whole new organization of Maria Hill and Nick Fury.
The chances of bringing a new organization in the MCU is very high because we all know that Marvel Studios are slowly and slowly getting away from the comic book roots of S.H.I.E.L.D. and we can see another big organization like S.W.O.R.D. in the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Phase 4 Of The MCU Could Introduce S.W.O.R.D.:
Well, if we talk about S.W.O.R.D. then the name stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department. The organization was created by none other than Joss Whedon in his one of the most popular Astonishing X-Men run as the main motive of the agency is quite brave and interesting.
The main work and responsibility of the organization are that they’re the ones who handle the external elements of concern as S.H.I.E.L.D. is the one which takes care of the internal human threats on the planet. As the SWORD is the organization taking care of alien threats and also it runs by a half-mutant and half-alien, Agent Brand.
Well, we have seen a lot of aliens making their way into the planet earth and is the reason why the introduction of an organization like S.W.O.R.D. is necessary for the MCU which is going to take care of future attacks by aliens in the MCU. Also, the organization reports to the United States and having a leader like Nick Fury is going to make this organization look really good and strong.
The Way S.W.O.R.D. Can Make Their Way In The Movie Spider-Man: Far From Home:
Well, there aren’t a lot of ways of introducing S.W.O.R.D. in the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home and the only way in which it seems quite realistic and reasonable is as we all know that this organization has been introduced in the comics of the X-Men and we have even seen Agent Brand dating Beast for a couple of long years.
This was revealed by the VFX supervisor of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Mark Kolpack in the year 2017, when there were a lot of rumors making their way onto the internet that we are going to see the MCU version of S.W.O.R.D. very soon and in this context, Kolpack has stated that,
“As cool as that would be,” Kolpack stated, “that is part of the X-Men universe. The rights will revert to Marvel upon completion of the Disney-Fox merger deal, but until that time, Marvel will be unable to use S.W.O.R.D.”
We all know that the deal between Disney and Fox seems to be finalized by the end of January 2019 and is the reason why fans are getting really excited for the possibility of having S.W.O.R.D. in the MCU. Also, the chances are high that the completion of all the formalities is going to end soon before the release of the movie ‘Far From Home’ which is July 2019.
The Future Of Sword And Captain Marvel:
There are chances that we aren’t going to see SWORD in a fully-fledged version just yet but the movie can set the stage for the organization in future movies of phase 4 of the MCU. Also, there are suggestions that the concept of bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is going to replaced by the idea of bringing an Eternals movie as with it this concept of bringing S.W.O.R.D. can surely work.
Also, there are things in the comics like she overtakes the responsibility from the hands of Agent Brand and is the head of the organization but also runs her famous and popular Alpha Flight rapid response program. Which is why the inclusion of Captain Marvel in the MCU is going to be huge and very important.
So, with all these things and assumptions on the floor, we can clearly see that there are a lot of things we can still work with having Nick Fury in the center of it. But, the very first thing which we are going to see in the coming future is the role of Nick Fury in the movie Captain Marvel and then in Avengers: Endgame as we all want to know what is going to happen.
