It has been revealed officially by the Disney Chief that we won’t see Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean Reboot and it’s final. There were reports that Disney is going to bring the entire series of Pirates of the Caribbean with a new face and director and it seems like those reports were true.
We all were hearing things like Disney is bringing the entire series again and I know there were a lot of fans and people who were laughing on these reports but my friends, those weren’t click-baits as it has confirmed by the chief of Disney, Sean Bailey that they’re up for the challenge.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter recently, it has been revealed by Sean Bailey that the plans of Disney are really big and they’re bringing the whole series again on a whole new level with the technological advancement we have now and also the money Disney can invest in a project like this. Bailey stated,
“We want to bring in new energy and vitality,” Bailey explained. “I love the [Pirates] movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with.”
Well, as most of you out there will know that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are the names which were behind the script writing of the movie Deadpool and is the reason why Disney has tasked this massive project in their hands because they want to present the series in a whole new manner.
Well, right now it hasn’t been revealed that who is going to direct this new project but there are reports that the movie is going to be centered around a female character and maybe there are chances that Redd is going to be the successor or heir of Jack Sparrow in the upcoming movies.
Also, recently in October Stuart Beattie, who was the screenwriter for most of the movies of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was asked about the future of this franchise and also what he thinks about the return of Johnny Depp as he was such a crucial part of the franchise. He said,
“I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now,” Beattie has explained this while having a talk with Daily Mail that, “And kids all over the world love him as that character so I think it’s been great for him, it’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.”
The man has also stressed about the impact Johnny Depp has had in the success of Pirates of the Caribbean series and has quoted that the legacy of Jack Sparrow is going to be with only one name and that is of Johnny Depp as he is the one who made this character what it is today as he said,
“I think Jack Sparrow will be his legacy. It’s the only character he’s played five times, it’s the character he dresses up in to visit children in hospitals, it’s what he’ll be remembered for,” Beattie explained.
So, seeing a Pirates of the Caribbean series again on the big screen is surely a piece of good news for the fans of this famous and no wonder Disney is bringing this project by investing a lot of money on it because they know the return is going to be really high as the fan base is really huge.
Well, the franchise has been one of the highest earning franchises of all-time as the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie back in 2003 collected a sum of US$654 million dollars. But, the big success came when Dead Man’s Chest was released as the movie earned a sum of almost $1.1 billion worldwide.
Also, On Stranger Tides did a collection close to $1 billion and also becomes the second film of the series and eighth movie in the history to collect a feat like this. Also, the franchise is twelfth highest grossing film series with over $4.5 billion to its name.
