Avengers 4 Theory:
The advent of Infinity War changed everything we thought we knew about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanos came, Thanos saw, Thanos conquered. It was all rather surreal as far as comic book movies go. But his crazy ride of vengeance fuelled by rage came to a stop with the legendary snap.
The snap heard across dimensions, across time and space; an act so immense and powerful that it broke the Infinity Gauntlet itself. The only device/artifact capable of harnessing the power of the infinity stones in conjunction destroyed in seconds.
The act that seemed so simple pulled off in an instance, an instance that changed the entire scenario of the war to come. Although subsequently, Thanos does escape using the power of the space stone, that’s beside the point. What needs to be understood here is that Infinity Gauntlet is destroyed and Thanos can no longer use the infinity stones together. This means that the ‘retired farmer’ looking upon a ‘grateful’ universe has been severely weakened.
The Mad-Titan Thanos just barely pulled off the snap in Avengers: Infinity War but now the entire paradigm has shifted. The stones are together but now must be harnessed individually. If this is the case then a concentrated attack by the Avengers just might be enough to stop the tyrant of the dark quadrant.
But Thanos is not so stupid as to underestimate the earth’s mightiest heroes. Quoting the Mad-Titan, “You’re not the only one cursed with knowledge”. There is a familiarity between the Mad-Titan and Tony Stark. It is this familiarity that makes the Thanos so dangerous and yet so vulnerable. Well, we would like to say that we find this fan speculation rather interesting. The man has not only combined the elements of a non-time travel story will a brilliant resurrection plot but the resurrection is better than we could have ever asked for.
The premise is made ever so spicier with the return of super-powered mind controlled brainwashed characters under the control of the evil force that has questionable motivations. If the propaganda of Thanos in Infinity War seems reasonable to you (like it does the massive subredditr/Thanosdidnothingwrong ) then there might be a very concrete reason behind it.
The shift of Thanos from a force of evil in the comics to a man with chaotically good motivations was not received well by comic fans. But this fan speculation just might be the key we have been looking for. It might be the missing link.
The motivations of Thanos may become the propaganda the returned heroes preach once Thanos establishes his control over their respective minds. This would not only give the Mad-Titan an army but also equip this army with a weird sense of justice.
One just enough to be morally sound in terms of propaganda but one that breaks when classic Disney motivations of true justice and morality are applied to it. It seems that Disney has pulled a fast one with giving Thanos a fighting chance after the snap in Avengers 4 and if this fan speculation is to be believed then also found a rather ingenious way to resurrect the heroes.
Thanos’ super-powered army will take over the universe post-Avengers: Infinity War and then proceed to protect it from the evil Avengers that will come for our benevolent lord Thanos. Sounds like a bad communist propaganda film from the times of Stalin. But maybe that is the point. Maybe the duality of Thanos as a world-ending tyrant and a man with flawed motivations is exactly the kind of character depth that Disney wants. Let’s see how it pans out, shall we?
Avengers 4 comes out on May 4, 2019. The cast is full of some of the biggest names in the industry. It is only a matter of time until we receive the next Avengers trailer.
