Thanos Origin Book Reveals The New Villains of Avengers 4

Facts about Avengers 4 are still unknown and all we have are rumors and theories with nothing definite and concreate. Marvel isn’t giving us the title and the trailer until December, but for a change, we actually have a major tease upon a twist in the upcoming film and it really is quite remarkable. If you thought that Thanos is going to be the only major villain in Avengers 4, you actually thought wrong.

Avengers 4 Thanos

Thanos really established himself as the biggest and the baddest villain of the MCU as he was the only one who was able to take down the Avengers while he accomplished his goal of balancing the Universe. But what I mean by him not being the only major villain of Avengers 4 is the fact that there are new villain(s) who are coming in, and will be the real villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers 4 Thanos

Earlier this year, it was announced that we will actually get a tie-in novel which gives us the full backstory & origin of Thanos as the Mad Titan. The book called “Thanos: Titan Consumed” has been released, and here’s the official plot summary for the book:

Avengers 4 Thanos

“Born on a doomed world and cast out by his people for his genius, physical deviancy, and pragmatic but monstrous ideas, Thanos is determined to save the galaxy from the same fate as his homeworld… no matter how many billions have to die. Learn the origins of the most formidable foe the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther have ever faced—a foe whom even a group of remarkable people, pulled together to fight the battles nobody else could, will fail to stop…. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives. Thanos is here.”

Avengers 4 Thanos

After Infinity War came out, it was reported that there was 30 minutes of Thanos’ backstory which was cut from the final film due to lack of screen time, but having a whole novel out giving us the full story of Thanos is just amazing.

Avengers 4 Thanos

But a mind boggoling fact coming from this book is the tease of even greater villains being a part of the MCU. According to this book which has been written by Barry Lyga, the Celestials or the Horde will actually be the new villains in Avengers 4.

Avengers 4 Thanos

Towards the end of the book, there’s a scene where Thanos is talking to an omnipotent being called the Lorespeaker who has an intimate knowledge of the stories and legends of the cosmos. So the Lorespeaker is the one who tells Thanos about the Infinity Stones, and when Thanos asks the reason why no one uses them, this is what he replies:

Avengers 4 Thanos

“They are hidden, Thanos,” the Lorespeaker said, as though badgering a child, “because they are too powerful. And because the Celestials and the others, the ones whom the Celestials fear, keep close watch on the Stones from afar.”

Avengers 4 Thanos

Now this is a massively difficult tease even for the nerds out there! The Celestials are considered as the most powerful beings of the MCU, and not only is this book teasing the fact that the Celestials still exist, but it is also giving us hint upon someone that even the Celestials fear.

Avengers 4 Thanos

Now in the comics, there aren’t any beings that the Celestials could certainly be afraid of as they themselves are the cosmic force that people fear, but there may be just one close match to the hint given in the book, and that is the Horde. These are an insect like race who are agents of mass destruction as they can actually consume the life-energy within the Celestials by infecting them.

Certain reports have suggested that Doctor Strange will have an encounter with a massive CGI creature in the MCU, and leaked toy box descriptions have also teased “new foes” and “an even greater threat.” So in the MCU finale, we could most certainly get to see the Celestials, or even the Horde.

Avengers 4 Thanos

Rest, the first trailer for Avengers 4 may clear things. Avengers 4 will arrive on May 3, 2019. Here’s the official Synopsis:

“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
