10 Powerful Cosmic Beings Who Can Beat Celestials

Avengers Infinity War has come, created a storm and is now gone. The general impression of the audience (excluding comic-nerds) is that Thanos is the supreme cosmic force and is virtually impossible to beat at this point. But there is a fan theory that even Thanos may be a pawn in the larger scheme of things. That there could be a bigger fish in the sea.

According to his theory, the super-villain of Avengers 4 is not Thanos but Celestials who are playing this grand cosmic chess game with the galaxy to meet their sinister ends. These are basically space gods who can manifest into different, massive forms using an enormous amount of energy at their disposal. They were first introduced into the MCU in GOTG Vol. 2 in the form of Ego The Living Planet who was revealed to be the father of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord.

The Mad Titan Thanos talks a lot about rebalancing the universe in Infinity War and in comics it is often associated with Celestials who share the similar objective. They have been assumed to be extinct but the claims are vastly exaggerated as Ego The Living Planet also believed that he is the last surviving Celestial but it’s untrue. It’s almost impossible to defeat a group of Celestials but some of the insanely powerful creatures have or can overcome the threat of Celestials. Here’s the list of those:

Thanos:

In the Avengers: Infinity War, he assembled the Infinity gauntlet embedded with all six Infinity stones which makes him one of the most powerful cosmic creature (like a God) in the entire Marvel universe. He has defeated Celestials in the past, for instance, in Infinity Gauntlet when ‘The Elders’ opposed him accumulating so much power, he generated a massive blast that knocked them all out of their senses.

Galactus:

He is one of the most terrifying cosmic creatures in the entire multiverse. He is sometimes also known as “Devourer of Worlds”. He was born out of the destruction of a previous universe, and there are very few who can even dare to stop him, let alone beat him. Infact, the God of Marvel comics Stan Lee also said that Galactus is certainly the most powerful character in the Marvel universe. He is surely capable enough to defeat the Celestials.

Reed Richards/Franklin Richards:

There is widespread belief that Reed Richards a.k.a Mr. Fantastic is the man with highest intellect. He has mastered practically every science known to man – time, space or inter-dimensional. He is a child prodigy who is way ahead of his time. He holds countless Ph.D’s in multiple scientific areas. He is “Level Twelve Intellect” as stated by Tony Stark.

Franklin is the son of Reed and Susan Richards (Invisible Woman). He can warp reality at his will. He could repair dying stars. He once killed a celestial with a punch and restored Galactus. He made him do his bidding. He is definitely powerful enough to defeat the Celestials but with his dad, the duo is unstoppable.

Hercules:

He is sometimes known as the God of Gods who has accumulated insane powers that other cosmic players can only dream of. In order to understand him better and to put things in perspective, he is more powerful than Odin or even Zeus. He can fly, teleport at will, emit gigantic energy blasts with his bare hands. He has the power to cause massive shockwaves just by walking.

Horde:

They are part of the group also known as “anti-celestials” or The Fulcrum. They have clearly stated many times that they are against the agenda of Celestials and other powerful entities who endorse rebalancing the universe through death and destruction.

Hunger:

It is a powerful multi-dimensional creature that consumes entire realities and timelines. Once, The Hunger was able to enter Earth-616 dimension and consumed Galactus vessel, a feat nobody could ever replicate. It can definitely beat Celestials in a death battle.

Beyonder/Dr. Doom:

He is so powerful that he was able to capture the power of the “Beyonder” who defeated all the celestial beings in the Marvel universe. He also became God of Doom. He was able to beat Thanos and crush Black Panther who had infinity gauntlet. Need I say more?

Jean Grey:

Jean Grey is like any other mutant but once she merged with Phoenix force, she took down a powerful alien empire, destroyed Apocalypse and could hold entire timelines in her hands. She became so powerful that she could challenge Galactus (Devourer of Worlds) and give him one hell of a fight. In the comic-book plot, she turned on X-Men and threatened to swallow entire stars, commit atrocities by the millions etc. Hence, she was known as the ‘Dark Phoenix’. She can definitely take down a Celestial in this state.

Apocalypse Twins:

They are the children of Warren Worthington III/Archangel but their name is inspired from Apocalypse. The Twins once got their hands on Jarnbjorn, yes the battle axe which Thor used in Infinity War after Hela destroyed Mjolnir. They took down a Celestial but they were eventually killed by mutant fire.

The Living Tribunal:

He is the safe-keeper of the multi-verse. He once told Adam Warlock that one hero cannot possess Infinity gems and forced him to split it among members of Infinity Watch. He is a giant humanoid with three faces who is acting as a Supreme court of the multi-verse. He intervenes from time to time if any major threat looms over the galaxy.
