The Game of Thrones Star Finn Jones Has an Amazing Theory For Season 8’s Ending

HBO’s epic fantasy saga “Game of Thrones” is entering into its eighth season which will mark the culmination of the entire series. It will comprise of just six episodes which will be directed by the best and the brightest, and HBO is expected to spend at least $15 million per episode. It is likely to hit the small screens in the first half of next year to make it on time for the Emmy nominations.

Hence, the fans have already begun to spin crazy theories about how it will all end. The actor Finn Jones, who played Loras Tyrell in the series also has an interesting take on the season 8’s ending. His character died in season 6 when Cersei Lannister blew up the “Great Sept of Baelor” using wildfire. He said:

“I basically don’t think there will be a throne anymore, and I don’t think there will be a centralized seat of power. I think power will be given back to the individual kingdoms, so more like a democratic rule. But I think that is probably a bit too utopian for Game of Thrones. I think eventually what will happen is just everyone will die.”

Well, this is way too peaceful an ending or resolution that some other crew members seem to suggest. Clearly, Night King or Cersei Lannister aren’t the types who will allow individual sovereign kingdoms to flourish in Westeros.

At the end of season 7, we saw Night King began his invasion of Westeros as he razed the wall to the ground and his massive army of the dead is now on its way to the North. Night King will be the big villain in the last season, but there is another human threat i.e Cersei Lannister who is Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, sent Euron Greyjoy to fetch the Golden army and take down whosoever is left between the dead and living.

Her brother cum husband Jaime Lannister left her to help North fight the Night’s King army and save the realm.

Another fan theory is that Cersei could end up as a victim of Night King as he would move south towards King’s landing when he is done with the North. She may even willingly agree to be Night Queen. Maisie Williams aka Arya Stark was asked about this and she said: “Oh, I have seen those pictures. What a power couple.” Well, she may be joking of course, but given how power-hungry Cersei is, we won’t rule this out just yet.

Nicolaj Coster-Waldau’s aka Jaimie Lannister broke off ties with Cersei and left her for good. He is teasing as to what might happen with Jaime:

“The fear is that I would be turned into one of those undead, that would suck. You know some of the main characters are going to get turned. There are going to be some blue-eyed main characters running around. And, god, I hope it’s not me.”

Here’s what he said about Cersei:

“She has so little interest or regard for the rest of humanity. It’s all about just her power… He is truly disgusted by the way she acts. At this point, the threat is clearly real. He believes what he sees, he believes his brother, he believes Jon Snow, he believes Daenerys when she says there’s an army of 100,000 marching. That is so much bigger than anything they’ve ever faced… I think that at this point, even the fact that she’s pregnant, there are bigger things at stake because it’s true what he says,’“No matter what, if the dead wins, there will be no child.’ There is no choice.”

When asked if the show is shooting multiple endings, he said:

“Do you think that’s true. It seems really stupid to me. I mean if it’s true I don’t believe it, but I don’t know, maybe.”

He added:

“I mean, I haven’t read the script, so unless they will show several endings that could be a twist, they’re not going to waste that money. They know how expensive it is to shoot. You’re not going to waste $100,000 a day to shoot something you’re not going to use. It’s not going to happen.”

Well, let’s hope for one hell of an ending!
