Thanos, the Mad Titan has the honor of defeating the Earth’s mightiest heroes in the grittiest of combats the universe had ever seen. The purple freak defeated them all. And not only that, he managed to collect all the six Infinity stones and snap his fingers to wipe out half the universe, all under the nose of the Avengers. That is no small feat. But we have one challenger this time. Drax the Destroyer is one of the MCU’s most ferocious and vicious fighters. His sole purpose in life is to kill Thanos. Many don’t know but he was actually built for the sole reason of putting an end to the Mad Titan’s reign of terror. If a fight happens between the two, who will survive? Presenting – Drax vs Thanos – Does the Destroyer have any chance against the Mad Titan?
Does this guy even need an introduction? Thanos has superhuman strength and speed. He was born to a species of beings that are known to possess godlike abilities. As a toddler, Thanos was considered an abomination. He was part Eternal and part Deviant, a demonic species that engaged in nefarious activities and were an enemy of the Eternals.
The Eternals were considered one of the most powerful beings on Earth. But The Mad Titan was considered the most powerful of all the Eternals. So when he went rogue, his father and grandfather were so worried that they had to develop an entire being that was built for the sole purpose of killing Thanos, which brings us to…Drax!
Drax the Destroyer is viciousness personified. In the original comic books, Drax could fly, manipulate energy and had an impeccable psychic telepathic ability. His powers would grow further. He could survive unaided in space and had the ability to sustain himself without the need of air, water or food. He was truly a beast. After the Annihilation Wave event, Drax lost most of his powers and became much more akin to the version we see on screen today.
But do not for a second think that Drax has become weak. He still has so many abilities in his quiver that we cannot even count. Superhuman strength, speed, durability, stamina, endurance and a psychic sixth sense to track Thanos anywhere in the known universe – are only a few of the plethora of abilities Drax possesses currently.
Thanos vs Drax – Who Will Win and Why?
Drax and Thanos are on a level playing field. Thanos does not possess the Infinity Gauntlet and Drax possesses his trusted knives. The reason for them fighting is better not to be said. Drax and Thanos are mortal enemies. The latter killed the former’s life, pushing him into a path of crime and vengeance just so he could get near Thanos and kill him himself. The ensuing fight would be inevitable.
So? Who will win this showdown?
It is Thanos!!! Drax may be powerful but the Mad Titan has extreme levels of strength. He was able to beat the Hulk with his bare hands. Thanos also has a genius level intellect. He also possesses durability and endurance several leagues over Drax. Drax will put up a good fight in the beginning but eventually, he is bound to lose.
Drax appeared first in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1. The official synopsis of the movie reads:
Brash space adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the quarry of relentless bounty hunters after he steals an orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain. To evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with four disparate misfits: gun-toting Rocket Raccoon, treelike-humanoid Groot, enigmatic Gamora, and vengeance-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when he discovers the orb’s true power and the cosmic threat it poses, Quill must rally his ragtag group to save the universe.
Drax and Thanos appeared last in Avengers: Infinity War. The official synopsis of the third Avengers movie reads:
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
