Here’s How Avengers: Infinity War Directors Solved The Major Age of Ultron Plot Hole

Avengers: Infinity War continues to enthrall audiences, and it has cast a spell on them like no movie has ever done before. It has become the fastest movie ever to have reached $1 Billion in Box office collections. It is the biggest Superhero thriller we could ever expect to see and there is nothing in the sight of this huge scale and grandeur that could take this film down except for Avengers 4 may be.

It was the first movie to actually handle almost 70 major comic-book characters of relevance in a plot that was so shocking and surprising that every new thing happening as the movie unravels is either really astonishing or fan-pleasing!

The heroes were awesome but Infinity War has given rise to the best MCU villain ever ‘Thanos’. He has easily won Round 1 as he managed to assemble all six Infinity stones in the gauntlet and snapped his fingers. The movie’s ending sent shockwaves everywhere and it felt like a GOT Level Cliffhanger.

The Directors of the movie, Joe and Anthony Russo have been able to pull of a miracle with this movie as they have created history by incorporating such a high number of characters in a single movie as each of those characters brought in their own story arcs into the mix that had to converge in order to accomplish a particular direction that the movie wanted to go in. This was an excellent job on the part of the writers and the directors of the movie. No one else other than these guys would have been able to pull off something like this!

Infinity War Age of Ultron Plot Hole

This movie was really thick on the plot as it answered many questions of the MCU that the fans went in with. It not only answered the questions about this movie, but it also solved mysteries from the previous MCU movies. It answered one of the biggest mysteries of all as we got to know the fate of Red Skull.

Yes, we are talking about the astonishing return of the greatest villain of Captain America, the Red Skull. Fans have wished really hard to see the return of Red Skull in the MCU, but actor Hugo Weaving who previously played the character had always denied the return of the great villain.

The return of Red Skull was totally unexpected in this movie as fans had never anticipated the when (Infinity War) and the way (Guarding the Stone) he would return in this movie. He was played by Ross Marquand who appeared on AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’.

Red Skull was previously seen being beamed somewhere into the cosmos when he held the Space Stone in his hands in Captain America: The First Avenger, but then with Hugo Weaving’s demotivating statements about the great villain’s return, people always thought that their wish may never come true now, and Infinity War was the movie where he was least expected to show up.

Being sent into space, the movie revealed that the Red Skull had been dropped onto the planet Vormir, where the Soul Stone was situated. Here for almost a lifetime, he was sort of doomed into a purgatory, as he has been sort of guarding the Soul Stone for a better part of 70+ years, being cursed to show people the path to the Soul Stone.

As Thanos and Gamora reach Vormir, Red Skull appeared and led them to the path of the stone, telling them that how he was exiled here when he held an Infinity Stone, and how he has been guarding the Soul Stone ever since then as he cannot claim the Stone for himself. He told Thanos that the only way he could claim Soul stone for himself is if he sacrifices the soul of his loved one, well he did exactly that and let his loved daughter Gamora die.

But other than this big mystery, the movie solved a big plot-hole that was created in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the Mid-credits scene of the movie, we saw Thanos appear out of nowhere, grabbing the Infinity Gauntlet saying, Fine, I’ll do it myself” after Ultron had failed to wipe out humanity.

However, in Avengers: Infinity War it was revealed that Thanos actually forced Eitri the Dwarf to forge the Infinity Gauntlet for him. Back, then when this scene appeared on the screen, Nidavellir was actually under the protection of Asgard which was alive before being destroyed once Ragnarok prophecy came true right before Avengers: Infinity War.

So many fans claim that it would have been impossible for Thanos to actually destroy Nidavellir since it was under the protection of Asgard. But given that it was actually Loki who was ruling Asgard for that period of time, he did nothing that a king should do, which is why all the Nine Realms were in chaos, and that is probably why Thanos was able to attack and destroy Nidavellir.

Avengers: Infinity War

Now, even the Directors of the movie have come out and explained that the post-credits scene from Age of Ultron actually took place on Nidavellir itself. Here’s what Joe Russo said:

“I think that it would be connected to Eitri. I think that clearly he is the one who forged the gauntlet and Thanos had the gauntlet at that point in time. It’s been a while since any of the Asgardians have interacted with Eitri and his people.”

So it is great how Avengers: Infinity War solved many things for us. But it created an even bigger puzzle in our minds that will be solved in Avengers 4, which will come out on May 3, 2019. We will wait for the whole year to find our questions answered, but Marvel is being pro-active when it comes to avoiding timeline or plot issues in the future. So they have taken an initiative which must be appreciated. Here’s what Kevin Feige said:

“All of that debate has encouraged us. We are going to be publishing an official, and I’m not sure when, or in what format, an official timeline. It’ll probably be a part of ah, I don’t know, a part of an in print that you can fold out and look at. But suffice to say, only in limited cases do we ever actually say what the actual years are because we never want to be tied down to a particular year and I think people assume that whenever the movie is released is when is when the movie is taking place, and that is not the case.”

Right now, Avengers Infinity War is playing successfully in theaters. It is directed by Russo brothers, produced by Kevin Feige & Co and the script is co-written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The Infinity War cast is beyond imagination as it stars some of the biggest names in the industry including Josh Brolin (Thanos), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Peter Dinklage (Eitri), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Karen Gillian (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Paul Bettany (Vision), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill).

The official movie synopsis is as follows:

“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
