As with all the Infinity War related articles, this post will also drool over the fact that how awesome the movie actually was. Marvel has outdone itself this time. People who believed that Marvel can never make a movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe with darker tones and impossibly high stakes have been proven wrong. Infinity War has been correctly termed the movie to end all previous Marvel movies. It has rightfully been declared the best Superhero movie of the decade.
Avengers Infinity War was the most anticipated movie of the year and fans ate it all up. It has been a decade in the making as MCU was launched in 2008 with the movie Iron Man and since then 18 Marvel movies had come out, all leading to the greatest comic-book event called ‘Infinity War’.
Despite a huge cast of superheroes, the central protagonist was Mad Titan ‘Thanos’ who is hell bent on bringing balance to the universe by wiping out half the humanity so that the remaining half would have enough resources to live a dignified life. In order to accomplish this mission, he is on a quest to assemble Infinity gauntlet with all the six Infinity stones – Power, Space, Mind, Time, Reality and Soul embedded in it.
Thanos brings with him chaos and destruction on a scale unprecedented. He invaded Xandar to retrieve Power Stone aka Orb, destroyed Thor’s ship and killed Loki in front of him to acquire Space stone he stole from Asgard, annihilated Collector’s facility to fetch Reality stone, sacrificed Gamora’s soul for the Soul stone and forced Strange to give up Time stone in exchange of Tony’s life.
Finally, the rampage of the Mad Titan brings him head to head with the people of Wakanda. And in all that chaos, the tiny super-advanced African nation suffers the brunt of Thanos’ offensive. So the question that now arises is – What will be the fate of Wakanda after the movie?? The answer might surprise you.
Spoiler Alert: The following paragraphs contain MASSIVE Spoilers for Infinity War…
Thanos managed to complete his Infinity Gauntlet and despite the heroes’ best efforts to snatch the glove off of him; he succeeded in snapping his fingers and ending half of all life in the Universe. Half of the entire sentient beings scattered throughout creation were exterminated in a matter of seconds by Thanos.
Several heroes also became a part of the casualty list. The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Loki, Gamora, Peter Quill, Drax, Mantis, Groot and Black Panther were the heroes who died protecting the universe (and failing to do so).
While each and every hero’s death in Infinity War will be mourned, there are two deaths that will forever be etched into our memories. The first is the way Infinity War killed off T’Challa aka the Black Panther (the second being Spider-man). We all knew that there will be few deaths of superheroes but nobody imagines that King of Wakanda will be one of the many casualties.
The Black Panther, the King of Wakanda is dead. He tried to rally his forces against Thanos’ outrider army and almost won the battle but Thanos had already become a God by the time Victory was almost in T’Challa’s lap. Thanos came and ended the fight in minutes. The rest of the Avengers had no chance when fighting a guy who wielded the Infinity Gauntlet. A snap and T’Challa was immediately turned to dust.
Thanos retreated and the surviving heroes were left to lick their wounds. The Avengers are dwindling in numbers and so is the rest of the World, including Wakanda. Half of humanity has been wiped out and Wakanda was the epicenter of that phenomenon. So how will the African Kingdom be affected by Infinity War? We may have some theories.
Shuri will probably become the ruler of Wakanda after T’Challa’s sad demise. She will become the new Black Panther. When T’Challa wasn’t there to lead his people, Shuri had already assumed the mantle of the Black Panther in the comic books and she did a splendid job as the Queen. Shuri is now not just the young genius heading Wakanda’s technological department. She will be taking over administrative roles and leading Wakanda until hopefully, her brother returns.
The Jabari Tribe led by M’Baku follow only and only T’Challa, who managed to earn Jabari Land’s respect. M’Baku has openly declared his hate for Shuri and considers her too much of a child to be given such important positions in Wakanda. When Shuri is coroneted the Queen, M’Baku and the Jabari will vehemently oppose her. Situations might soon escalate into all-out Civil War. Sadly, this could just be the beginning of the end of Wakanda if T’Challa does not return back from the dead soon.
When the Avengers decided to reunite again, they committed treason. Team Cap is considered international fugitives and criminals in the eyes of the World Council. Team Stark joined hands with Team Cap and the former will be considered illegal accessories to international criminals in the Court of Law. There is no way the Avengers will be heading back to America for now. For the time being, they will take shelter in Wakanda. Such an act will be considered an act of war by several nations. Wakanda may end up facing the wrath of the World Council.
Lastly, Wakanda might end its non-isolationist policies and shut down its gates to the Outside world until they could recuperate back. The outreach Centers may no longer be a viable option anymore considering Wakanda will be branded a terrorist nation that harbors known fugitives. All in all, Wakanda is screwed until T’Challa returns (which he undoubtedly will).
The movie is running successfully in theatres. Don’t miss it for the world. It is directed by Russo Brothers who have an amazing track record with Marvel as they directed two Captain America movies – Winter Soldier and Civil War. It is produced by Kevin Feige and host of executive producers including Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo. The script is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The cast is simply amazing to say the least as it has some of the biggest stars working together including Josh Brolin (Thanos), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Karen Gillian (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Paul Bettany (Vision), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill).
