Avengers: Infinity War – The Post Credits Scene Raised One Big Question

Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest movie Marvel has ever produced, and it was surely the ultimate thriller that had us hooked to our chairs and pleased all comic-book fans. It leaves us with a cliffhanger which we could have never expected. It was Game of Thrones level stuff that nobody saw it coming (almost like a Red wedding).

It portrayed Thanos as the big bad of MCU and waiting for so many years to make him feel his wrath was totally worth it. He was not just an unstoppable monster but also a genius level cosmic supervillain who was committed to his lifelong mission of bringing balance to the universe by any means necessary. He believed only he has the strongest of wills to take the hardest decisions which have to be taken.

His motivations were justified, and he actually was the hero of his own story. He thought that by wiping off half the life in the universe, he was doing everyone a great favor as the resources are scarce, poverty is high and planets are unsustainable.

So he came to Earth to assemble the Infinity gauntlet with all six stones embedded in it; these Infinity stones represent cosmic singularities that control fundamental forces of existence. Once the wielder uses the gauntlet, it could literally destroy half the humanity at the snap of his fingers.

The end of the movie took a while to sync in with the audiences, but then came the Post Credits Scene, which left yet another feeling of greatness and suspense at the same time. There were a lot of anticipations as to what may be there in the post-credits.

Watching the movie, we did not get any appearance from Hawkeye and Ant-Man, so people thought that either of the two may get a scene. Ant-Man and the Wasp is the next movie on the Phase 3 slate so a scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp would have been just fine.

But what we actually got was better than any other assumptions and predictions one may have in their minds. The Post Credits scene began with Nick Fury driving a car and talking to Maria Hill who was sitting beside him and the scene took place in New York City.

And out of nowhere came in a car driving pretty rash in front of them and they would have surely been in an accident if the car had not crashed and Fury had not stopped on time. But, thankfully for him, he did.

Hill got out of the car to check what happened to the driver but found no one in the car. Fury turned around and saw a chopper crashing into a building while the ashes flew out of the chopper. This scene was meant to show the effects of Thanos’ finger snap all around the world and the Universe as half the population of the entire Universe was wiping out slowly and steadily.

This showed us that Thanos had completely succeeded on the mission of his life, which was to bring balance throughout the Universe. This scene displayed the impact of that.

As the scene progressed we saw that Maria Hill also started turning into ash, and then Fury ran to send in a distress signal through a beeper that may be his panic button of sorts, and as he is about to do that, we see that he is also turning into ash.

As that happens, Fury goes down halfway into completing the distress signal, and Samuel L. Jackson’s trademark word, “motherf….” The beeper falls down on the ground, and the camera moves closer to it, finally displaying the signal of Captain Marvel.

This doesn’t just set up Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel’s arrival in it, but it also gives a major hint at Captain Marvel’s upcoming solo movie, and where she has been all this time. We know that the most powerful hero of Marvel is coming in her own solo movie in March 2019 and she will be making her grand entrance in Avengers 4 as well. Here’s what Kevin Feige said about her:

“All of the Marvel characters have flaws to them, all of them have a deep humanity to them. With Captain Marvel, she is as powerful a character as we’ve ever put in a movie. Her powers are off the charts, and when she’s introduced, she will be by far the strongest character we’ve ever had. It’s important, then, to counterbalance that with someone who feels real. She needs to have a humanity to tap into.”

He added:

“Really, the focus now is on delivering Captain Marvel, and then bringing Captain Marvel’s story into the finale of everything we’ve started thus far. How does it fit into the cosmic side of our universe? How does it fit into what we’re doing with the next Avengers movies?”

Seeing that she was Fury’s last hope and his big panic button, this does raise a lot of questions that need to be answered in the upcoming two movies. The biggest question that arises over here is that where has Captain Marvel been all this time. Kevin Feige revealed that this reason will be answered very well in the upcoming solo movie.

But the main question in this scene was, that how does this beeper work? Does this get Captain Marvel back instantaneously, or there are things that need to be done after this too? And if Fury had this the entire time, why didn’t he call the strongest superhero into fights against Loki or Ultron, why just now.

Obviously, Thanos is a much bigger threat, but the Avengers would have surely got a great helping hand, and the collateral damage could have been minimized up to a very great extent.

There lies a big explanation behind all this, which is why Fury never even mentioned the existence of Captain Marvel, let alone bringing her in. Hopefully, Marvel will solve this problem in the best way possible. Avengers Infinity War is currently playing in the theatres. Go watch it if you have not!

It is directed by Russo brothers aka Joe & Anthony Russo who were the duo behind two Captain America movies – Winter Soldier and Civil War. It is produced by Marvel President Kevin Feige with a team of executive producers including Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Michael Grillo. The ensemble cast is mind-blowing and stars some of the biggest A-List actors in Hollywood including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Karen Gillian (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Paul Bettany (Vision), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill).
