Here’s Why So Many Characters Would Really Advantage Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War will be upon us in just 35 days and the hype for the movie keeps increasing as it gets closer and closer. Infinity War will be the greatest character ensemble ever seen on the big screen and it will interweave all the stories told in the last 10 years, starting from Iron Man itself. Since the build-up to this movie has been so fantastic, the anticipation for the movie is huge. It is expected to literally break the box office, and blow the minds of all the fans and critics at the same time.

Ever since the 2nd trailer of Avengers: Infinity War hit the net, the number of questions the fans had turned to infinity as well. The trailer was pretty tight and even though it gave us many new scenes from the movie, it still did not reveal any big spoilers, which is a good thing as we still don’t know the plot of the movie and will get many surprises when it hits the theatres.

The movie is going to include a ton of characters, and it will be really interesting to see how the writers and the directors have managed to juggle them and give them screen time. Many different characters will come together so it should be really difficult to balance them since all of them come from a different background and they are different tonally.

During Comicbook.com’s set visit at Avengers: Infinity War, they got to talk with the writers of the movie, Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely, and they explained how they balanced all the characters and the tone of the movie on paper so it could be really enjoyable for the fans. Here’s what Markus said:

“Well, I mean sometimes you play into it. You cut to the Guardians and it’s a breather. If you’re going from T’Challa and Captain America being very intense, you cut to Quill and Drax and it’s like, *sighs*. It doesn’t mean they’re not carrying as much plot, it just means the tone is different. But it’s also fun to drag people into each other’s tones. Pull someone into the Guardians and have them go, ‘What the f*ck is with you guys?’”

They were asked that which characters pair up in the movie – Avengers: Infinity War, which they did not reveal, but they did reveal that we will get to see some new relationships begin when the movie opens in theatres. Here’s what McFeely said:

“I don’t know if we can tell you what the pairings are but yeah. One of the goals after Civil War… we got in a room for 4 or 5 months trying to crack these two ridiculously big things. We had wall of characters and at a certain point you just go, ‘That’s funny and that’s funny. What’s a story that could get those two [characters] together?'”

McFeely continued:

“Right, we talked a lot about, it’s a Joe Russo term, ‘strange alchemy.’ What is it when you put the two characters together, even in a fairly normal traditional situation, but since we’ve invested in those characters and known them, we sort of delighted in the idea of those two people rubbing against each other. So, we always chased ‘delight’ – and terror. Lots of terror.”

Markus chimed in:

“And we’re coming off CivilWar. We’re coming off Winter Soldier. So that’s there’s lots of backstory that still needs to play out in addition to the Thanos situation. Like, I just walked by Sebastian Stan out there. You could put Bucky in a room with anybody and they’re going to say, ‘Oh sh*t! He’s a maniac.’ He’s shot Natasha [Romanoff] twice as far as I can keep count, so it’s going to be interesting.”

It will be fun to see what character interactions we get to see when the movie comes out. We have already seen how Tony and Star-Lord react to each other, and how Thor is going to play with the Guardians. So, if you think about it, the Guardians would come in really handy for putting the fun elements in the movie.

Avengers: Infinity War

Just imagine a conversation with all the geniuses in the room, which may include Shuri, Tony, Rocket, Peter Parker, Doctor Strange and Bruce Banner, it is going to be all sorts of science-space mumbo jumbo! This movie is going to be amazing and the moment when all characters assemble is going to be the best moment of our lives.

Avengers: Infinity War will open on April 27.
