Avengers Infinity War will be upon us in no time, and we are going to get the biggest character ensemble of all time brought on the big screen for the first time. Age of Ultron was filled with characters, then came in Civil War that had even more characters involved, and now Infinity War is going to bring around 67 characters, with almost half of them being Superheroes. This is the greatest comic book ensemble in the history of Hollywood, never before has any studio cobble together a comic book movie on such scale and magnitude.
It all started with Iron Man in 2008, so there is 10 years of build-up, and we are finally so close to seeing Infinity War. This movie will finally bring in the Mad Titan at the center, stealing all the Infinity Stones, wreaking all sorts of Havoc against Earth’s mightiest heroes.
Marvel has been setting him as the Darth Vader of this era and fans are going to be really disappointed if this build up is not up to the mark. We have waited to see Thanos appear properly in live action for 6 whole years ever since he popped up in the post-credits scene of the first Avengers movie. Thanos is going to be the all-powerful villain, stronger than anyone that has ever appeared in the MCU till now.
As we know that, in Infinity War, he is going to be after the 6 Infinity Gems, the 6 singularities of this Universe, that contain the powers to wipe out the Universe, and maybe the entire Multiverse as we know it. Here is what ‘The Collector’ had to say about Infinity stones:
“Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots… Infinity Stones.”―The Collector
Currently, 5 of these Infinity gems have been introduced in the MCU and the 6th stone, which is the Soul Stone is believed to be either in Wakanda or with Heimdall. It is yet to appear and Infinity War will have a big portion invested in the story of the Soul Gem, as even in the comics, it is the trickiest of all other Infinity Gems.
Why is Soul gem the most powerful of them all? Well, imagine the kind of destruction unleashed by Ultron when he had Scarlett Witch on his side, now imagine if Thanos uses Soul gem against her and bring her on his side, Can he then be beaten? Scarlett Witch took care of Vision during Civil War like it was nothing. I hope you got my point.
Currently, the 5 Infinity Stones are scattered around the Universe as the Space Gem, which is the Tesseract is with Loki and currently on the ship that is transporting the Asgardians, The Reality stone, which is the Aether is currently in the possession of the Collector, The Power Gem is placed at Xandar, The Mind Stone as we know has been installed in Vision’s head and the Time Stone, which is the Eye of Agamotto is at Kamar Taj, or supposedly with Doctor Strange.
In the first official trailer, we saw Thanos already having the possession of two of the Infinity gems – Space stone aka Tesseract, Power stone aka Orb. We saw the Black Order forcibly extracting ‘Mind stone’ from Vision’s forehead.
Now, a new piece of Promo Art for Avengers: Infinity War shows all the Infinity Stones. Along with the other 5 Infinity Stones, there is also the mysterious Soul Stone and we may possibly get an Idea of who currently has it in the MCU. Even in the comics, the Soul Stone has been the trickiest of all the Infinity Stones, and along with Thanos, the MCU has also been building up to the Soul Stone and its location.
This new Promo Art shows the heroes who are and have been related in the past with the Infinity Stones that have been revealed in various movies till now. The Space Gem has Captain America at the center of it, along with the other Avengers, probably because of the fact that Tesseract was first revealed in Captain America: The First Avenger. The Power Gem has Star-Lord at the center of it along with the Guardians and the Avengers because it was first revealed in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The Time Gem has Doctor Strange at the center because it was revealed in Doctor Strange’s solo movie hidden in the Eye of Agamotto. The Reality Stone has Thor at the center of it because it appeared for the first time in Thor: The Dark World. The Mind Stone has Vision at the center of it because he bears it and it was revealed in Avengers: Age of Ultron. So according to this theory, if the Soul Stone has Iron Man at the center, then is Tony Stark the one who somehow has the Soul Stone?
This could either be very true or it could be just a coincidence. If this was the case, then Marvel should have given some big hints right from the start. And we can see Iron Man in other Infinity Stones of the Concept Art as well, so he might have been put at the center of the Soul Stone just to fiddle with our brains and hide the real truth behind it. We know that Marvel is not sloppy at all, so the latter seems the more likely possibility.

The ensemble cast includes A-listers such as Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Josh Brolin (Thanos).
Avengers Infinity War will be released worldwide on April 27, 2018. The movie is directed by Russo brothers i.e Joe and Anthony Russo and produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including God of Marvel comics Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Michael Grillo. The screenplay has been written by a talented duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Can the Earth’s protectors ‘The Avengers’ and Guardians of the Galaxy be able to neutralize the threat of the most powerful cosmic creature and his Black order? Who will survive the Infinity war?
