Avengers Infinity War: Here’s Why The Kingdom of Wakanda Will Be The Epicentre of Thanos’ Gameplan

Avengers Infinity War will be upon us in just 47 days and the hype for the movie keeps increasing as the movie keeps getting closer and closer. Infinity War will be the greatest character ensemble ever seen on the big screen and it will weave a powerful narrative combining all the stories told in the last 10 years, starting from Iron Man as it was the beginning of it all in 2008 when MCU made its official debut.

The reports indicate that Marvel has pulled all stops to bring to life this epic spectacle and we will see around 67 comic book characters while half of them are superheroes, rest are villains and supporting cast. Never before has anyone attempted a comic book movie on this scale and magnitude. This is totally unprecedented.

The Digital Marketing of Avengers: Infinity War seems to have finally kicked in as Marvel has increased the Hype of the movie among the fans by releasing a bunch of new photos and magazine covers. 15 different covers showcasing 22 Superheroes and 1 Mad Titan were released by Entertainment Weekly magazine. All those covers were just amazing as they featured the look of the characters we will get to see in the film and along with that, they featured on many peculiar details.

The plot of the movie revolves around Mad Titan’s quest to become the most powerful cosmic creature in the entire universe and for that, he needs to collect all the six Infinity stones – Power, Mind, Space, Time, Reality and Soul. The Russo brothers described ‘Avengers Infinity War’ as a heist movie where Thanos and his Black Order launches an all-out assault to steal Infinity stones in order to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet.

Here is what they said:

“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.

When the first trailer of the movie came out, the Internet was taken by storm. It broke an all-time high record of the number of online views that the trailer registered on Youtube was off the charts within 24 hours of its release. With this kind of massive reception from the comic book nerds and superhero fans in general, the analysts believe that if this translated into footfalls at the cinema halls, we might be looking at entry into a super exclusive club of $2 Billion where only three movies made it i.e Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

So many speculations rose after seeing that trailer. One of the big reveals of the trailer was the siege of Wakanda. Most of the Avengers along with the Wakandan tribes and Dora Milaje were fighting against the Outriders army in Wakanda. There is an assumption that this army will be led by Cull Obsidian, one of the members of the Black Order.

But the big question was always that why this battle is taking place in Wakanda. Thanos and the Black Order are after the Infinity Stones, so is there an Infinity Stone hidden in Wakanda? Is Wakanda hiding the final Infinity Stone that is yet to be revealed in the MCU? Is the Soul Stone another precious item that Wakanda has been hiding along with Vibranium? Well, all these questions have to be answered when the movie comes out.

Another speculation arose when the TV spot of the movie came out at Super Bowl. The Big Game Spot showed Vision hobbling into a Wakandan facility along with Scarlet Witch and Black Widow. This made people think that Vision would probably be saved by team Cap when Corvus Glaive tries to rip the Mind stone out of his head. And this is why Cap brings him to Wakanda, and the entire siege of Wakanda takes place in order to protect Vision and not the Soul Stone.

Well, it seems that the Soul Stone is not present in Wakanda and the latter speculation is the correct assumption, as one of the directors of the movie, Anthony Russo confirmed to ‘Entertainment Weekly’ the reason why Thanos invades Wakanda:

“Cap makes the decision to bring [Vision] here to Wakanda. Earth is making its last stand to keep the stone from Thanos. It’s the best place to make your last stand.Vision is a living MacGuffin. Obviously, that raises the stakes because Vision’s life is in danger, and his life is in conflict with Thanos’ goals, so something’s got to give.”

So we now know why the Siege takes place in Wakanda. Since they are protecting Vision there, so the location of the Soul Stone still remains a mystery for the fans, or it may be the case the Director Russo may be playing decoy with the fans and along with Vision, the Avengers are protecting the Soul Stone as well. But that seems highly unlikely. Still, we got a big confirmation, so we can hope for the location of the Soul Stone to truly surprise us all.

Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War will open on April 27. Here’s the official synopsis of the movie:

“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. “As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.

“An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. Can Team Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy be able to save the planet from total destruction that Thanos and his forces will cause once they land on Earth?
