Here’s How Carnage Could Fit Into The Larger Sony’s Venomverse

Venom will be one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. With a stellar cast and phenomenal crew, the venom movie has already hyped up the Fanbase. The trailer for Venom came around in Super Bowl and fans still couldn’t get enough of it. While the movie is almost primed for achieving the blockbuster status, there is a rumor circulating that will make you want to watch it even more. A new rumor claims Carnage could soon find his way into the Venom-verse and hints at how the evil Symbiote could actually appear in the Venom movie.

Venom was announced last year by Sony Entertainment to much surprise. After leasing Spiderman to Marvel Studios, many thought that Sony’s Superhero universe was about to breath its last. Yet beating every expectation, Sony announced they will capitalize on what they have.

Spiderman may now be a Disney property for the time being and Sony cannot make movies on Peter Parker. But the rest of the Spider-verse, including the villains like Mysterio, Kraven, Black Cat and Venom are still Sony property. Believe it or not, each of the Spider-verse super villains we mentioned is about to get his/her own standalone production. Venom will be the first but it won’t certainly be the last.

Now moving on to the question at hand, Carnage aka Cletus Kasady is a deranged psychopathic killer who used to be cellmates with Eddie Brock when the latter was sentenced to prison for his crimes as the villain Venom. When Eddie broke out of prison using the Venom Symbiote, an offspring of the Venom Symbiote found its way Cletus and he soon turned from a deranged sociopath to a super-powered deranged sociopath that could rip a truck in two with his bare hands.

Venom features Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and is directed by Rupert Fleischer. Carnage is also included in the movie. Woody Harrelson is also set to play Carnage aka Cletus Kasady in the sequel to the R-rated Venom movie.

This year’s Super Bowl treated the fans to the first teaser trailer for the Venom movie. The trailer came just after Tom Hardy broke the news that Venom had finished principal photography. Throughout the shooting, fans of the anti-hero were treated to several photos of prominent cast members including Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Riz Ahmed as Dr. Carlton Drake, Scott Haze as Roland Treece and Jenny Slate as Dora Skirth.

While most of the cast members’ whereabouts within the movie were known, Carnage was still a mystery that eluded everyone. Everyone knew that Carnage will appear in the movie. But no one knew when and how. Now a new rumor helps us realize not only the ‘how’ but also the fact that the possible actor who will be portraying Cletus Kasady on screen.

That Hashtag Show reports that Carnage won’t be a part of the official storyline of Venom. Eddie Brock will mostly deal with controlling the Symbiote and fighting the Sinister Life Foundation, the organization that experimented on the original Symbiote to create duplicate copies of it that later bonded to other human beings, creating multiple super-powered individuals under their command with similar powers to Venom.

After the Life Foundation is dealt with, Venom will find himself incarcerated in San Quentin State Prison. The movie will have a post-credits scene where Eddie will finally be introduced to Cletus Kasady by Dr. Ashley Kafka.

That Hashtag Show claims a part of the Venom Symbiote will break from its host and soon find its way to Cletus as the screen would cut to black. The scene would essentially be set up so as to prepare Carnage for the Venom sequel. That Hashtag Show also speculates that since Harrelson wasn’t spotted in any of the Photo shoots for the movie, he will only be seen as a ‘henchman’ in the first Venom movie. He will only assume the mantle of Carnage in the sequel.

Fans should be excited about this. Carnage was not even being expected to appear in Venom. Judging by the looks of the trailer, Eddie will have his hands full fighting the Life Foundation as it is. So fans never expected Carnage to show up in any form. But using Cletus Kasady in the sequel makes all the more sense. The origin story of Carnage in both the movie and the comics is the same.

But it is still a rumor. We are not completely sure things will play out as everyone now hopes they would. Until then, we will be looking for more clues within any Venom material that Sony will surely release as the movie release date nears so that we can corroborate our claims for the better.

Venom has a release date for October 5th, 2018.
